I'm flying into Heathrow and back from Edinburgh in May on a company award trip and I'm looking for advice on best airlines. The company is paying for coach, but I'm going to use miles to upgrade if possible. I used to fly to London 4x/year for work mainly with United on the dreamliner, but it's been a while. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Can this be ticketed through Delta?

Fly Singapore from IAH to Manchester and take a train in either direction.

I have points with Delta and United, but I have Amex points I can use on any carrier.

Convert your Amex points to British Air Avios and use those to upgrade your seats. You need to open a BA account ahead of time. Amex points often convert to Avios at a bonus like 1.4:1 which is an added benefit. Plus, your company pays the fuel surcharge.

We took this flight over the holidays. I booked World Traveler Plus seats (Premium economy) & got bumped to business on the way over. Excellent service & you fly on a new Dreamliner. Highly recommend.

BA will do this to entice you.

They swapped an -800 for a -900 which made them re assign eveyone due to it being a larger aircraft (I hear this is fairly common). Honestly I preferred the World Traveler Plus seats. BA’s business “suites” are very tight for a 6’3 guy & the one I had was in the middle row facing backwards.

I’m one of the rare people who really likes their seating setup. I like the privacy. But I’ve also never ended up in the middle rows. Those just look awkward.

Their WTP seats really are fine though. Especially for a daylight flight.
