If you have the credit card/status aren’t you able to check bag for free with a BE ticket. What about select a seat?

Premier with United you lose all perks when you buy BE, I go from economy plus at no charge to not even being able to select a seat.

ETA: not sure on bag because I don’t check even though it’s free

That's also a good point, I don't think you get points when you go with BE either. Which seems petty IMO by the airlines

I’ve booked basic economy multiple times. The non seat selection is easy to handle.

I’ll go to the checked bag agent after checking in, even if not checking a bag, show them the seat will be assigned ticket and tell them I’m a firefighter and wish to volunteer for the emergency exit row.

Never failed im 4/4.

Of course, I've flown basic on Delta and United and checked my skis before. I think you are also exempt for the carryon restriction as well.

If your flying a smaller regional jet picking a seat matters a lot less, you are either getting a window or an aisle seat regardless. That is really the only situation where I book basic.

this is stupid but it is what I do. I book basic economy then when I go to check in I upgrade to the exit row for the extra charge. Psychologically it works
