Getting ready to book a stay on Lake Louise for next summer. Wondering from those who have been- any difference/preference between last week of June and 2nd or 3rd week of July, as far as weather, crowds, trail conditions, wildflowers etc?

TIA

Can't imagine it makes much difference, but in my experience Lake Louise is always crowded with tourists. You might consider staying at the Banff Springs hotel, or the Fairmont property up in Jasper.

July will have less snow. I work in Calgary and have been to Banff the past few weekends. I need to post some pics and a review.

Jasper is better than both those places IMHO, we did Jasper and lake Louise a couple of years ago and when I go back it will be to Jasper

I literally JUST got back from this area. I would strongly suggest that if you are considering the Fairmont on Lake Louise you should reconsider and stay @ the Moraine Lake Lodge. They are around 20 min or so apart and Moraine Lake is Sooo much nicer and less crowded.

Moraine Lake Lodge

If you would like our itinerary I would be glad to share.

Just got back. Stayed in Canmore from July 20-26. Perfect weather the entire time. If you plan to do any higher elevation hiking def go in July. Several of the days there the upper peaks received snow.

Thanks for everyone's input. We have decided to go in July after talking to someone who goes and hikes there semi-regularly, for just that reason, to give the snow a chance to melt.

Also have decided on this person's advice to rent a cabin in Field rather than stay in Lake Louise. We weren't staying at the Fairmont, it and Moraine Lake Lodge a bit out of my price range. Had planned on Paradise Lodge, but I generally prefer a cabin and my source says that Field is much much less crowded, and this will save us about $1500.

It was an amazing trip. Will try and do a review (with pictures from some of the hikes) soon.
