Going to Austin in a couple of weeks for a bachelor party and was looking for some recommendations for bars, restaurants, activities, and golf. We thought about getting a boat on lake travis but wasn't sure if it would be worth the drive and price because we are staying in east austin, anyone know something similar that is located closer to east austin? Boat on Lake Travis drinking with your buddies is worth the time and effort.

The Oasis is a restaurant that overlooks Lake Travis. This food isn't really that good but the margs and chips and salsa are great.

Hit up all the BBQ Spots (Terry Blacks/Franklins)

This is what we did when I went on one in Austin. It was a great time. Took in a game at UT as well.

Been to Austin many times, but all during the summer months. Unsure how Lake Travis will be in October, but would say a boat is worth the time and money. Skipper will take you to a cove with a bunch of other boats/pontoons and link you up with a bachelorette party. Makes for a very fun time. Alternate activity could be a river float (too cold?). Did one last summer that was a lot of fun. Going down the San Marcos River is always popular and there are busloads of people also doing the same thing. Again, good way to chill and meet people.

Plenty of areas to bar hop around Austin... Guess it sort of depends what your buddies are looking for. Rainey isn't what it was, but solid enough bachelor party destination. Easy to pop around and find people if you lose them. Personally, I prefer a Sunday Funday on Rainey over anything Friday and Saturday, but to each his own. East Austin is more my speed - fun bars, breweries and patios, but short of ratchet. With a big group, Lazarus could be an easy play - a lot of space, solid beer and good tacos.

It'll still be plenty warm enough in Austin to enjoy Lake Travis/Austin/Town Lake, whether boating, paddle boarding, or whatever.

Plenty of phenomenal places to eat around town.

Terry Black's on Barton Springs is very good.

El Alma is 2-3 doors down. Good Mexican food and a popular place - the scenery is solid.

Eberly is just south of Barton Springs on S. Lamar. It's a hot spot and full of good looking people. Dress nicely.

You could do Butler Creek Pitch and Putt (short par-3 course...more a social event than a golf one...you can suck at golf and still have fun, because it's about drinking beer and hanging out moreso than golf), then walk over to any of the 3 I just mentioned (although you might want to dress nicer if going to Eberly).

If you want top notch, seriously high quality scenery, go to The Peacock at Austin Proper Hotel (2nd Street, just on the north side of the river...can walk across the pedestrian bridge). Dress nice or the doormen might turn you away, especially on Thu-Sat nights.

Roosevelt Room is a pretty good bar and is just north of Peacock.

If you do brunch/lunch one day, go to the Four Seasons and sit out on the patio. Trust me on this one. Can't remember which restaurant (Live Oak or Ciclo) serves the Four Seasons BBQ Guacamole, but you could just order that and then die happy.

If there's a UT home game that weekend, go tailgate. Folks are friendly and will let you join them for the game. No need to go inside the stadium. But go early before the game and enjoy all the scenery.

Don't rent a boat on Lake Travis. The lake is only 38% full and dropping every day. New hazards are popping up left and right and the local boating pages have tons of posts about people hitting things, running aground, etc. If you're going to head out on a lake, look for a rental on Lake Austin. t's narrow (dammed river channel) but constant level and all hazards are clearly marked.

If you don't want to do a full golf outing Butler Pitch and Putt is fun and you can play the whole thing in an hour or so.

As far as bars in East Austin, check out Central Machine Works, Lustre Pearl East, and the strip of bars along East 6th.

I'm AUS based so happy to answer any questions.

Rainey St was so much better and more quaint around 2015. It’s one towering high rise after another and it’s so commercialized now.

The city sure has a different look and feel than it did not even 5 years ago.

Rainey used to be one of my favorite places to go out on a Friday/Saturday night but now I typically only go for Sunday brunch as it's gotten so built up and crowded.

Also, OP, if you're an LSU fan, check out The Rustic Tap and the bars along West 6th street. The Rustic is one of the watch bars for LSU games and is filled up with Tiger fans on Saturdays

If you aren't hitting the lunch buffet at Yellow Rose on Friday, is it really a bachelor party?

Catch a show at Joe Rogan's club, The Comedy Mothership. The venue is awesome and intimate.
