Stop at Wakkula springs. Water is cold but georgeous and the hotel is a throw back.

Are you looking to stay actually in town? I'm assuming not? You have either St George Island to the east about 10-15 minutes or Indian Pass to the west 20 minutes or Cape San Blas a little further west.

The town is on the River/ Bay so not on the beach. With kids, I'd stay by the beach and drive into town when you want to.

Brewery is pretty good, you can search the restaurants online there's only a handful. There's not much, so its hard to miss anything.

I'd recommend the Indian Pass Raw Bar. I prefer staying on Indian Pass myself, but its all about what you like. Cape san Blas will have the best water and beach, Indian Pass and St George have a ton of shells and very large ones with dirtier colored water.

St. George Island is nice, and it is unspoiled by high rises. The Plantation at the western end is the nicer part. In town, there is a hotel called Water Street that is pretty nice. The Consulate (see their website) has 4 condo units that can be rented. The Gibson Inn is another place in town.

It is a neat old town but it might get old for the kids. For the beach experience, stay on the island or on Cape San Blas.

You could hire a fishing guide who could take you fishing or could take you up the rivers or out to the uninhabited barrier islands like St. Vincent or Little St. George. . Lots of wildlife down there, bald eagles, etc.

A great, unspoiled part of FL.
