Speaking of mileage runs... I am already afraid I won't use my 4 delta global upgrades again this year.
This would make 2 years in a row so I need to find somewhere intl to go.

Asia? South africa? Seems like you could get a global upgrade on a 747, would make for a really nice flight

Agreed Cuse. Hell last December I even posted it on flyertalk. It it was too later in the year to secure a travel companion. If someone has a business trip somewhere fun I would be willing to give them the other two upgrades in return for my fare purchase.

That's awfully nice . I almost got lucky on flyertalk with someone giving away a SWU there in february, but first/business was booked by the time anyone realized they couldn't use theirs

4/4 on upgrades for my mileage run today MSY-DFW-MIA-MCO-MIA-MSY (didn't request MIA-MSY). This should requalify me for platinum next year in combo with a trip to china planned for september. Plus I get a nice lie flat shortly on the 777 to miami

Nice! Which route is the 777? I presume the DTW-MIA? I am just here on my normal MSY-ATL-DCA today.

Yup, Dallas to Miami has surprisingly 4 777s on the route today. I know you were thinking of trying out AA, upgrade rates out of MSY have been great for me this year as a platinum (12/13). I'm guessing you're on some MD88s or 90s, maybe a 757 today?

I didn't realize how price competitive this route was with AA, DL, WN, and a few others flying this route...I needed to run up there for a mtg while I was in MIA for work. $87 RT booked 12 hours before departure.

Had no idea it was that cheap right before departure. Also, how do you like MIA? Feels like a 3rd world country right now

I'm not sure what's worse, being surrounded by screaming kids, wheelchairs and strollers here in MCO or being a minority in MIA. Think I'll do my mileage runs to ATL from now on

At least you are not in LGA or LAX. What was your CPM ?

Take a look at LAX to UIO via MIA in F. Full lie flat all the way and around 16K EQMs for $780ish

You can't win in MIA. FLL is full of Cruise Ship passengers and MIA is just awful.

I can tolerate MCO once I'm through security. But most of my clients are either in the far northeast or southwest. So depending on the trip, I can get away flying out of TPA or DAB.

True. I'd put those two ahead of MIA in terms of terribleness.

That's true, but those hubs at least have admirals clubs I could have relaxed in all day. CPM is about 4.5 for this trip, can usually get it 3.5-5cpm from msy. Granted going 3/3 on complimentary upgrades made this much better than expected.

Last year I aimed for segments, this year its going to be miles for platinum. I'm worried about how much AA will devalue miles later this year. While they haven't set a date, I'm not sure yet what's going to happen. Also, the problem with LAX to UIO is getting from MSY to LAX. Not too many cheap flights out there from MSY currently

shite, they are devaluing again after already doing it a month ago? I didn't see that rumor any where.

Time to book that trip to south american while I can.

They're not devaluing the awards, they're devaluing how much you earn per flight. Similar to how United has gone with earning miles 9x the fare if you're a GS, 7x the fare is you're a 1K, 5x if you're a platinum, etc... (I don't know if those are the actual earnings for United, just using it as an example)

People on flyertalk are suggesting october, I could see that happening. Earn your miles now while they're cheap!
