My 10th anniversary is coming up and I want to do something special for the lady. Zemi Beach Resort , CuisinArt, and Cap Jaluca are three resorts I’m looking at. Anybody got any input or experiences? TIA.

I stayed at Zemi Beach about a year back. I did a thread on it: LINK

Awesome! Thanks for the info. Sounds like you loved it, but would opt for the west side if you did it again? It does appear that the west end has more action.

Probably so. The drive was a bit far, especially after drinking, but there are very few cars on the road.

Anguilla is known for food, so prepare to eat and eat well. They got hit pretty good by a storm last season, so make sure all is order before booking.

I wish I could stay at Four Seasons, but that's really balling.

also, here are rough notes I found from Itinerary suggested to us:

Four seasons for lunch by beach or sunset drinks and apps get the tuna. The formal restaurant is pretty but quiet and ok - I heard good if they have music there.

Across from pump house there is a gingerbread style house. English or Irish pub. Good for a drink. Past all that at end go to Elvis beach dive bar sunsey evening.
Sandy key - take a boat there for lobster lunch and swimming.
Of course Dune preserve on wed nights or sunday daytime .

Dinner at Mouilkihana pretty and nice change

Cuisinart food and setting not great except maybe lunch on beach you are at Bankie's next door anyway .

Gwen's reggae bar - haven't been since she relocated

There's a BBQ place (not John Os by Elvis) but somewhere else where you can ride horse son the beach there and swim.

Treetop restaurant Veya that is really good and cool and always has live music - sometimes Bankie's relative playing -
Everyone says Blanchard's the best for food but we have never been.

Cap Jaluca- had an ok lunch on BEach there. Haven't had dinner there.

We day tripped from St. Maarten to Anguilla a few years. We enjoyed the day and the beaches are about as picturesque as you’ll see. We spent a couple of hours at Sandy Ground hanging out at Elvis, I’ll definitely go back and stay there.

We also did a day trip from St Maarten to Anguilla a few years back. Rented chairs and ate/drank at The Place in Rendezvous Bay. The beaches there are stunning. We hope to make it back next summer.

Bumped to update. We booked at Cap Juluca for June. Can’t wait. Will update when we return. Would appreciate if anyone has Anguilla advice to share before we go.

How’s the travel to Anguilla? Is it an all day ordeal or fairly easy?

Would a Thursday - Sunday trip be worth it?

Thanks

Flying from?

There should be a ferry schedule online. The ferry ride (small boat) is 20 minutes tops and it's over very calm waters.

It all depends on how your flight arrival lines up with the ferry schedule and how much flight travel time you have.

Travel isn't easy to get there, but its not terrible. the major issue is not being able to fly US commercial flights directly into Anguilla because the airport isn't large enough to handle big planes. The solution is to fly into St. Maarten airport (SXM).

From there you have a couple of options. You can book a small prop plane flight with Anguilla air from St. Maarten to Anguilla. It's a small plane and the flight is only about 10 minutes. I am doing this in June. I've been told the Anguilla Air people are super helpful with customs and the entire process. they've got great reviews online. They say the flight is beautiful to between the islands.

The other option is by boat. You can do the public ferry OR charter a private boat. I think the private boat is typically the most expensive option. Even more so than the flight. I will have more info after my trip in June.

One fyi....
You mentioned Thursday to Sunday. I have been told to avoid the St. Maarten airport like the plague on Saturday and Sundays. They say it is a fairly chaotic airport on most days, but that the weekend is especially bad.

It was also destroyed by Irma and while it's open again it 100% is not what is was before Irma yet. The same can be said for the St. Thomas airport and other affected airports.

Thanks for the travel info!! I really appreciate it.

I’d most likely be flying from Pensacola. Unfortunately most flights I looked at have a huge layover in Miami. Lots of travel for just a few day stay. I’ll have to reghink schedule.

I can add a few things. We spent 6 nights at Malliouhana in Meads bay. I would highly recommend that area. The hotel itself is awesome and has more charm than the four seasons. But the four seasons is king and is done to perfection (hence why the two previous owners who built it went bankrupt).

1. If you stay in Meads bay you really only need to rent a car one maybe two days. There are tons of great restaurants (Jacala, Blanchard’s and Straw hat being our favorites).
2. Everyone says to go to shoal bay (where Zemi is) and it’s nice but I didn’t find it much better than Meads; however, there was a lot of snorkeling to do there.
3. There are villas up and down Meads bay that are cheaper than four seasons / malli.
4. We went snorkeling out of Sandy Ground. Again fine and we liked Dolce Vita for dinner but there are better places to spend a day.
5. Eat bbq - there are tons of places. We enjoyed B+D and Sunshine Shack

The island is probably running at 75% right now and won’t be 100% until next season - fingers crossed for no hurricanes.

I second the Meads Bay recommendation. I like Shoal Bay East but it’s a little too far from most of the restaurants I like.

Ocean Echo is another good casual spot on Meads.

Sandy Ground has some good restaurants but not a place to spend a day.

Rendezvous Bay is actually my favorite beach but not as many options as Meads Bay. Gotta at least get a drink at the Sunshine Shack though.

Staying at 4 seasons

Beautiful place. Spent yesterday on a boat out of sandy ground. Little bay was my favorite. Salt at 4 seasons is good . Straw hat is possibly better
