Just my wife and I are looking to get away for 2-3 days between Xmas and NY. We are in Dallas and have done everything within 5 hours except for Hot Springs. It looks touristy and I know the average age will be 60(we are 40), but I was hoping there was enough to do to kill 2-3 days.

We are very active so hikes, walks, etc. are welcome. They have some great deals on AirBNBs on the lake and even the hotels in town. Doesn't look to be a crazy time of year.

Also was looking at maybe an afternoon on the 3rd day since Hot Springs looks like a 2-day town. Maybe a trip to downtown LR to see the Clinton library, shop, and do lunch and a brewery? Not a Clinton fan but we've already seen 5 presidential libraries and enjoy them.

You're right in that you sort of run out of things to do in a couple days. I'd suggest spending a day downtown, check out the bathhouses, have some beers at Superior Brewery, check out the scenic overlook, pizza at Grateful Head, etc. Then on the second day you can do outdoor stuff, check out Garvan Gardens, hiking, we hiked at Lake Catherine State Park. If you have a 4x4 vehicle we spent a day riding some of the fire roads and 4x4 trails on Ouchita National Park.

If you're into people watching I suggest spending some time near the jug station downtown. I got a kick just watching people filling up random things with the spring water. Used liquor bottles, 5 gallon buckets, tuberware containers, etc

If you’re into horse racing or a casino, Oaklawn is running on the 29th through Jan. 2nd

The Ohio Club is a historic little bar downtown to get some drinks.

Check out Deluca's and Don's Southern Social (reservation recommended for both).

Garvin Woodland Gardens is having a great Christmas lights display (I'm assuming it goes through NYE). Advance tickets recommended, but you can usually buy the same day online.

FYI just a warning. My wife and I spent a dew days in Hot Springs many yrs ago. I had a great time however my wife had a terrible experience in a Bath House and to this day never let's me forget it.
