Ok, relative newbie as to NYC.
Last time I was there was in the late 80s.
Staying at 8th and 33rd.
1. Safe to walk from 8th to 3rd avenue at night. Around 10-1030.
2. Any places to avoid.

Confession: I’m a bit intimidated by the place. Haha!

Yeah, you’ll be safe in that area. It’s much safer now than 30 years ago. Gentrification plays a role.

Thanks.
There’s a bar with a SB watch party at around 33rd and 3rd Avenue. I guess we can grab a cab if we feel uncomfortable walking from 3rd to 8th.

Your hotel should be close to Madison Square Garden and your watch party is around Kips Bay.

Very safe places, and if it’s Super Bowl Sunday, it will be even more secure.

Honestly 10-15 blocks in any direction of those places is quite secure.

Great to know.
The party is at a bar called Cask. There’s another place called Elsie’s rooftop I’m looking at too.

Thanks again for the help.
We are there for Billy Joel on the 14th. That’s why we are staying in that area. so making a few days out of it.

That’s definitely a safe walk, but I will warn you that the area around Penn Station can be a wildcard for sights. A few months ago I saw a homeless guy with his pants around his ankles, arse out, just pissing on a wall. That can happen in a lot of NYC, just may be more prevalent in midtown.

The cops are always around and there’s nothing to worry about, but Penn Station and Port Authority just attract homeless and vagrants. It’s definitely gotten better recently with the new train hall and the high end Hudson Yards and Manhattan West developments.

You want this board to say if it’s safe to walk around in New York? I would recommend staying home if that’s the case

You will be fine. Be smart. Like any other city, such as Atlanta and NOLA.

You’ll be fine. We went over NYE and felt safe pretty much everywhere. Just keep your head on a swivel in the subway & pick the crowded cars at night.

I saw the same at the top of a subway stairwell off of Times Square. Wonder if it was the same guy.

Go to Legends bar across from Empire State Building. Believe it’s on 33rd. Big LSU bar.
I plan on catching a game there next season. Heard it’s a blast there.

Looks promising. I will have to call and see if they are doing reserved seating for the Super Bowl.

Good call to make. I know for Tigers games, especially any games that start between 630-8pm eastern time, they suggest getting there at least an hour ahead of time. Good luck
