I know what you mean. I got pretty messed up there 2 years ago. No acclimation, went right to the mountain from the airport, so that was probably my fault.

I think the biggest issue is you are sleeping over 8,000 ft, so you never really get a break from it.

How is the snow? I’ll be headed out to Breckenridge on the 15th. Looking forward to making the final run down 4 o’clock on Easter Sunday as they shut that area down.

I wish I had some ice patches here at Snowbird, so I could gain more speed.

This is the slowest this mountain has ridden for me ever.

Nevertheless, I’m with my favorite people on Earth so I’m eternally grateful for that.

I cooked it up last night, gonna cook it up today again on the mountain @ the Bird for ride day 112.

Don’t feel bad, I dislike Breck very much because of the altitude sickness I had there years ago.

Find a humidifier. Go buy one at Walmart or whatever.

Humidify the air in your bedroom. It will freaking help. Get that air wet!

Correct advice. Wife runs 3 in the unit the entire time we are in town. There are ways to handle the altitude and this is certainly one.

Luckily the condo had a few and I ran them all day when I was gone and then had both in the bedroom at night. Feeling much better now, of course in the shuttle driving back to Denver.

gotta hydrate brah
I buttchug water constantly while in CO; it’s a PIA when you have to piss every 10 minutes but it will keep the altitude sickness away

just bought some rub-on yellow wax for slushy, warm days that has been a game changer for spring skiing.

what area of town were y'all in? Hope you had a good trip overall.

As for the Breck altitude, the best tips I know are in this thread...run humidifiers and over hydrate. Lots of water starting two days out. Makes a huge difference.

We were staying right at Beaver Run.

I’m always hydrating, normally at least 100oz of water per day on inactive day and 150+ on active days. I added electrolytes to just about everything, two humidifiers, obit had one beer in 48 hours, nothing would relieve the GI distress

Yesterday evening it finally started to break and today I feel about as close to normal as I could expect.

I’ve climbed two 14ers before (Pikes and Long) and only had issues once I got above 13k so o thought I’d be okay going over 12k I was wrong. Very very wrong. Lesson learned for sure.

Glad you’re getting over it. I’m old. Staying under 12,000 feet going forward. Luckily, I’ve never had any significant issues other than a little bit of lost sleep on the first night or two in town. And I seem to have gotten over that as the years have passed. Just lucky.

Keeping things below 9000 feet for my last trip of the season, so no elevation issues to be had for me....

You can just drink it, no need for all this.

Breckenridge is sitting on around 8+ inches since early morning. Lots of smiles in town.

And it’s still snowing.

Had my last solo day at Solitude Friday and family time at Brighton Saturday, I think I'm calling it for the season. We got a foot of snow between Thursday and Friday, but it was super soft powder (yay!) on top of ice (boo!) so it was still a little weird getting around Friday. Not to mention the random rocks you couldn't see. Got a couple big scrapes on my new board :(

All in all my first season as a local was a great success, I got 23 days on Ikon, 15 days teaching, and a handful of others with the family. Can't wait for next year.

Let's see some season stats people

I am not done yet. My body is pretty cooked but I’ve still got about ten or so days left in the tank.

118 days is correct.

Not all my vertical feet were recorded because on many days, I didn’t turn on the tracker other than to record the actual day.

600K ain’t bad but I imagine it closer to 750K

Also, I didn’t go 80 miles an hour. 49 sure. 80, not a chance.

You probably recorded some of your drive home. You can edit that out if you want.
