I fly United a ton, as long as you are under weight they don't care.

I'll put a couple of things in my bag for protection but I don't overstuff it to make it obvious and I always check my boots in a separate bag or carry them on. When I am on the mountain and driving to a resort I can walk to the base in my snow boots and then just store my snow boots in my boot bag for the day so I am not driving in ski boots or changing in the parking lot.

Flight delays pushed my landing back to SLC yesterday to almost noon so kind of just accepted the fact I wouldn't ski until this morning but decided to drive to Canyons and throw on my bibs in the parking lost and managed to get in 6 runs in about an hour and a half. Absolutely no lines and on 3 of the 6 lifts, I was the only person. Gonna hit it early today on the PCM side then head to No Name for dinner and The Cabin for some early evening drinks.

Flying out to Canada today, multiple connections to Kelowna so hoping it all goes smoothly. I'm going to ski Silver Star, Revelstoke and Sun Peaks. Revy has gotten a lot of snow and Sun Peaks is 80% open. Never skied Silver Star but a lift ticket is $80 so thought I would check it out.

New mountain on my first day of the season, skied Silver Star today. More of a family mountain but a good place to shake off the rust before getting to Revelstoke. I was really surprised with the views....

Some nice fast groomers on the frontside of the mountain as well, that had good coverage. The backside of the mountain has to be epic on a powder day, all of the advanced terrian is on the back. Lots of glades and some chutes. Only a few runs were open on the back today though.

Lift ticket was $80 USD, a solid value and would come back again when more terrian is open. In Revy now, waiting to hit the mountain first thing in the morning. A lot more snow up here, with a refresh on the way tomorrow night.

Nice review! Stellar view of the Canadian Rockies in your first photo.
Excited for more photos from your Canada travels.

Conditions looks pretty good for mid December up there. Glad you got a sunny day as well to get the views. Sun Peaks can be a lot of fun too, it's cool with the resort being at the end of the road and the entire mountain wrapping around the road

Headed to WA/Crystal this coming week, looking forward to getting out for my first few days. Weather looks to warm up a bit, but i'm perfectly fine with some spring skiing type conditions if the sun decides to come out

Good start to my season really spending a lot of time working on my deficiencies at higher speeds and moguls.

Lots of fun and even got blessed with a couple inches on the last day

Second day at Revy and conditions on above the Stoke chair are in midseason form, 5 inches of dense powder today was awesome but maybe I should have hit a few more leg days before the trip. Was getting face shots on my first run down though.

The Glades by stoke were solid, still pretty thin on Ripper with some creeks you can get stuck in so I didn't wander over there too much. The bump runs were nice and powdery. Winds were brisk at the top so took a while to get anything above the lifts open. Tomorrow is looking better for that, might even see a few peeks of sun which would be nice.

Will miss Revy but I am excited to spend a few days at Sun Peaks, got a great deal on a ski in/out hotel room and last time I was there one of the major lifts was closed so I didn't get to ski an entire chunk of the resort which is now open.

Yep, when you get to the creeks off RIP, you know you’ve traversed your arse off because that drop is some of the best terrain on the planet.

I love fricking up and hitting those creeks because everything above that is bliss.

Revelstoke is my personal Valhalla.

We are getting absolutely nuked out here in Bend again.

Cheers man.

Experienced skier advice needed. Heading to Steamboat says highs around 30 lows around 10. Not an aggressive skier will spend time on blue and green broken up with hot chocolate and beer.

Question is what to wear. No snow expected. Seems pleasant enough to not have to bundle up. What’s quick advice.

Base layer under your waterproof stuff, and you should be fine. Maybe a t-shirt over the base layer for the early morning.

t-shirt, hoodie, waterproof shell. That's what I wore this past Friday breaking in the legs at Breck and it was fine. It got pretty windy in the afternoon when some weather moved in, but we were done for the day. If we had stayed on the hill longer and dealt with the high wind, I would've wanted better layers.

ETA: It's going to be mild and dry all this week. No new snow sucks but should be some beautiful bluebird days for rippin groomers and beers. I'm taking Friday off again since I have a bunch of PTO to burn. Debating between golfing down here in the city or doing another day trip up the hill for some turns. It'll be 60 and sunny down here Friday, so golf is more tempting at the moment.

This is what I was planning on, last thing I want to do is get sweaty. Yes, no snow expected, which is just fine by me, I am a marginal/novice skier anyway so easy is great. Wish is always for snow for my kids sake, but oh well.

Taking kids (teen/early 20s and absolute beginners) skiing at Copper 12/19 - 12/23. I've been on skis twice and am still not very good. With the temps looking higher (mid 40s) and no new snow, will it be super icy and more difficult to learn? We have ski school scheduled the first day. Just wondering how much harder this is going to be for them. Or is it a non-factor?

They'll be on groomed terrain. It'll be crusty early but soften up after the sun hits it. Could be some icy spots once runs get skied off.

ETA: looks like the northern mountains might get a few inches tomorrow after all. Some is better than none.
