Will things becomes better or worse for international travel moving forward?

Will it become vaccinated + booster + negative test moving forward?

Will being quarantined and having to pay out of pocket become budgeted for you for future travel?

How much will you budget for various Covid protocols, I know a friend came back from London and said he spent close to 300 on Covid test to get into a different events, parts on country, etc....

Are any places you are marking "off limits" because of their handling of Covid or them shutting down?

Long term?

No

Countries will be forced to acknowledge that the vaccines don’t control or limit the spread of Covid.

People are simply going to get used to Covid. And get over it.

2022 moving forward? Well, having just gotten back from Europe for 3 weeks, these are just my personal observations...

What's your definition of "better or worse"? Compared to what? 5-10 years ago or last year? I think the current protocols you see in place (requiring vaxx cards, testing prior to departure, wearing masks indoors) will remain for the foreseeable future for European Travel. If you're not vaccinated, just forget going there. For how long?

Who knows? Do you want to travel or not? How many permutations of the Greek Alphabet can you have! Now, having said that, my experience was some countries(Germany) were more restrictive with this than others. And it's far different in urban vs. rural markets. I think travel to/from the US will remain as is with the current COVID Protocols. You have to get there and back, so that's the biggest hurdle.

Depends. You can mitigate your exposure by research trip insurance costs and assessing coverage for COVID scenarios. Or, go with tours that may offer options if you test positive and help make arrangements for you (i.e. on our Viking Cruise, had we tested positive during the cruise, they'd have put us up/fed us etc. on their dime. Had all the arrangements set up just in case.) Or, better yet, charge all your trips on an affinity card like Chase Sapphire Reserve. We researched their travel insurance coverage extensively and would have received coverage had we tested positive.

How much will you budget for various Covid protocols, I know a friend came back from London and said he spent close to 300 on Covid test to get into a different events, parts on country, etc....

We had a healthcare provider come to our hotel room and administer an antigen test. $60 euros per person. Gave us the certifications we needed on the spot. Very easy. I think you'll find a lot of hotels or tour organizations understand what tourists have to deal with (Brits have it worse to go home BTW) and will help you with testing (i.e. Viking would have arranged ours for example had we ended our tour with them instead of self-directing for 10 days more).

No. Maybe I'd watch State Department warnings, see where cases are spiking etc. as I planned, but hell, we went to 3 "Level 4 Countries" spiking in December and lived to tell the tale. As you see, others here weren't as fortunate. So its a risk you have to assess. We plan on doing a Baltic Cruise in May 2022. I'm hoping cases peak by then and things start to decline in terms of restrictions. But if not, again this is with a Viking Cruise, I'm extremely comfortable with their precautions.

I'm going to hold off making any European trips for a while. I'm saying this while quarantined in my hotel in London. Rest of the family tested negative so I had them fly home without me.

Next year is our ten year anniversary. We’re unvaxxed and not planning on getting it.

We had always planned on recreating our honeymoon in Greece and Italy for our ten year but it looks like our current options are down to Mexico, Colombia, and possibly Croatia.

You don’t have to Vax to go to Costa Rica but apparently as of January 8th you have to have it to stay in most hotels and restaurants so we crossed it off the list.

Think that is my fear at the moment of going somewhere and while there testing positive ruining everything we planned.
Nola mentions taking precautions but you can do them all and still end up positive which sucks. Even vaccinated, boostered, etc...

I'm looking at some overseas travel now as it has been two years and I'm itching to go back.

I'm double vaxed but not boosted. Wife and t
2 children tested negative on fit to fly test at Heathrow so they left.

Honestly, we were very busy and did everything we wanted. My biggest concern was testing positive on "day 2" test but we did not. More of a pain in the as than anything.

Austria alredy came out and said you have to have the booster to enter a week ago. I'm sure other countries will follow.

Proof of vaccination and negative Covid tests will be here for the conceivable future, as will masks on flights. I think generally though, we are over flight bans and probably mass lockdowns as well.

I’m on my plane coming back from London where we have been locked down pretty much the whole trip. It sucked - but I don’t regret taking the trip. We just happened to get caught up in the omicron wave. We visited Turks and Caicos, Costa Rica, Maldives, and London previously in the last year, so I have nothing to complain about. One lockdown on one of those trips to get super immune is okay by me.

UK is 91% vaccinated, yet still has about 4% of healthcare workers quarantined at home due to omicron. I think this is the peak, as South Africa is largely over their omicron surge.

If you want to travel overseas, you have to get vaccinated. It’s just the way it is.

In general though, traveling with Covid rules is the new normal, just like enhanced security post 9/11. Ya gotta deal with it.

I just booked a cruise up and down the Norwegian fjords for June.

I think that this Omicron wave is the beginning of the end of the pandemic, and that rules will be relaxed somewhat by the summer.

I am vaxxed and boosted, so not worried about that

I'm going to hijack my own thread...

I have 3 Companion Passes and 1k in Vouchers to use by the end of this year.

Looking at possibly going to Porto or Prague for Easter and then either Ireland/Scotland/London this summer or somewhere else.
- we've been to Amsterdam, all of Belgium, Venice, Tuscany, Lisbon, Munich, and Nice so far
- looking for at history
- like eating and drinking (more towards drinking) as we are both picky eaters but willing to try anything at least once
- more of the type to spend several days in the same city rather than hitting as many spots as possible
- not looking at Asia or South America
- both vaccinated but no booster
- enjoy sitting outside at cafes and chatting with locals

Local options right now are Jackson Hole, Boston, Memphis, Seattle. I've been to all of these places the wide has not as she has only been to San Diego, Jacksonville, DC, Charleston, Norman, Dallas, then your typical South.

France. France. France.

ETA: We're doing three week in Spain in May.

Amazing food and history. Amazing wine. Paris.

Certainly would love France that would be a summer option. Over the summer we usually do 14-25 days depending on where we are going.
