It's an A-Basin only kinda March.

FWIW, if you're coming out here and don't need the frills of a resort, A-Basin is your best bet with this warm weather. Breck and Keystone are miserable when 1/2 of Texas and 1/2 of Denver is there.

Hopefully we get another round of wintry weather later next week. In the meantime, 81 degrees in Denver today....

1/2 of Denver is always in Summit County. Summit is basically part of Denver IMO.

East Wall is firing at A Basin. So good if the wind would just die down.

Forecast is starting to trend that way and I'm having a hard time keeping myself from getting too excited. Should be a fun trip anyway. Got a 4 year old that will be skiing for the first time and my 7 year old and I plan to do a snowmobile tour one day for the first time. Even if no new snow falls and temps stay warm, riding during the mid morning-noon soft snow and then afternoon brews on a patio beat working all week, haha.

Small report....got back to DC this past weekend from Mayrhofen, Austria which was terrific.

The setup and the choices for runs were just terrific. With the dollar being strong, it was actually quite cheap in my opinion.

If you love Munich, imagine most of the apres ski as German Disco or German Oompa music with great Austrian/German beer at a decent price.

I am not good enough for the Blacks or hell most of the reds there, but others said they were great. So, if you are looking for somewhere to gently work your way into the Alps this is not a bad choice.

If anyone wants more information let me know.

I'll be getting that (heavy) powder at ABasin on Friday. My quads are ready to be burned one last time this season.

Fumbling my way down the 2nd Notch entrance. Dust on crust but it was fun at the Basin.

At Winter Park this week, 5" reported this morning and got my son ready in time and talked the wife into dropping us off and taking him to ski school. Well of course my other son is acting up and I had to bite the bullet and drop the older off at ski school and get on the lifts late thinking I'll just get some leftovers. Managed to work my way over to the Mary Jane side and got to the Panoramic Express right before it opened and somehow managed to get 5th chair and was the second person to go down Larkspur in what was probably 7-8 inches of untouched powder. Got very lucky and managed to get a couple more runs before the crowds showed up and then ducked in the trees the rest of the day as the sun turned anything exposed into "sticky" snow. Was a nice morning. Hoping the Friday night forecast holds true and that my last day of the season on Saturday ends on a high note.

Glad you got some goods! Friday sounds like a stronger storm. Steamboat has been getting skunked hard with these southern storms.

Yesterday at the Basin could have been one of the best days of my season. I could even maybe give it a top 10 spot all time.

6-8 inches of heavy surfy snow made for a really fun day. The East Wall absolutely went OFF today. I made two solid runs down 1st Notch and 8th Tree Chute.

8th Tree Chute gave me some amazing turns. Over the shoulder pow with no one else around me on the run. Will post a new video or two soon.

Steamboat gonna get skunked again with this storm it looks like. All the good skiing is almost done at the Boat. My off days will be spent down at the Basin or out spring touring.

Made 3 more laps on the East Wall today. Leftovers were amazing. I freaking love that place and the East Wall.

Got beach spots both days and ski'd up to my car between most laps. Can't beat that.

I ski'd the 1st Notch and a variation of the far left entrance twice.

Just arrived in Vail. There is still snow on the Mountain (45" base, about 90% runs are open) but man - Vail village is in full blown spring. Walked around in a t-shirt and felt great.

Tomorrow is my last day of the season - can't wait to shred.

Think I ski'd the best line of my life today at A Basin. The sky turned blue for about 45 minutes while we hiked the East Wall. We went for a pretty aggressive line to get into but holy shite, did it pay off.

North Pole Coulouir. It required some side stepping in our skis up about a 50* degree pitch. Got up on a perch and got to drop into the coulouir and make knee deep turns running wide open down East Wall. Cold good snow. It was amazing. Can't believe how deep it was.

I'm in shock. The sky turned grey immediately after and by 2:30 it was white room and absolutely nuking snow again.

But those 45 minutes of blue sky might be my favorite 45 minutes on my skis of all time.

fricking April is awesome.

To make your more jealous. Today was even better. That was legit line of my life. 100% unequaled in my skiing career.

Count me as jealous as well! Now back at home dealing with these possible severe storms today has me craving snow even more. Already counting down to my trip to most likely Steamboat on December 16.

Have any of you attended an Alpine World Cup ski event? I am trying to figure out whether it would be worth it or not.

Seems like a fun time, but not sure.
