Wifi on property

Looking to expand my wifi network to cover the 2.5 acres our house is on in hopes of providing a more reliable network for dog's GPS/wifi collar. What's my best option to cover that much area that won't be too costly?

Need a lot more information, but without knowing anything about the model of collar or the layout of your property or whether there are additional structures with power, I will suggest getting a UniFi AC Mesh for $100 plus a 100' network cable for $15 from amazon. Run the cord from your router outside through a door/window and test that thing in different spots. I think one unit could cover the whole 2.5 acres with a decent signal. Bigger question is whether the collar has enough signal strength to talk back to it, and also why the collar uses wifi to begin with.

I can just tell you how I'd do it.
I'd get an outdoor repeater to mount on the roof of the house or on a pole next to it.
Then, I'd walk around my property with my phone and figure out where I'd need to drop extenders.
At that point, I'd need to decide how much I'm willing to spend on burying electrical conduit. (That stuff's not cheap either.)
I think assuming you have clear line of sight over the 2.5 acres you could probably get away with only needing 1 or 2 runs.

Don't they make dog collars you can put a SIM in, like game cameras, so they can use cellular for data?

This collar has GPS and cellular but unfortunately the signal for both can be a little weak depending on the conditions and where he's at on the property. Hoping to use wifi to at least shore up the strength of that to cover him while he's on the property.

See if Amazon Sidewalk is a good fit for your application.
