Currently have a TP-Link C9 Archer with 1 wireless extender. However it annoys the shite out of me having to manually select the extender (and then back to the main router). I also want to have better coverage upstairs but don’t want to go with another crappy extender.

Think I’m going to bite the bullet and get a Mesh Network.

Who here has them, and what do I need to know? I am leaning Google Wifi as it’s cheaper but I have privacy concerns with Google. I do know you can turn off some of the data collection options via their app. And I already have a Ethernet switch so number of ports won’t be an issue.

I haven't been very impressed with my Google Wi-Fi. Have a 1200sqft shotgun house with three pucks (center, and two ends). Speed coming into the main one is always 750+, but coming out is only 250-350 with nothing else running. The other pucks only put out 75-150 wireless, and 100-200 wired.

I do get Wi-Fi out to the street, but that's only like 100ft, and it stops there

I have the Eero, 3 pack.
3 stories and a unit on each floor. I get consistent speeds throughout the entire house.

You didn't list it but I like my Amplifi a lot. It is in a centrally located, less than optimal place (in a cabinet, 2 ft off the ground, surrounded by a receiver and sub). I have zero dead zones in my house (1850 sq/ft). I'm on a 1/2 acre lot and have signal everywhere in my back yard and get about 3/4 to my mailbox before signal is lost.

That is with just the base unit. Really haven't had the need to get the satellites.

My parents have the satellites on theirs in a 3 story house and it works great. Night and day difference from a regular router since the base has to be on the 3rd story.

Do you have any wireless speakers or anything else that might be putting out some signals on the same band the wifi uses? I had the same issues and then discovered my wireless surround sound system was causing massive interference. I moved my main Google unit away from it and manually switched the surround sound to a different channel and it solved the issue.

I've been very happy with Google Wifi. Very sleek, insanely easy to set up and use. Only complaint is limited hard-wired ethernet ports available, but that's easily solved with a switch if you really need it.
