I have a cannon m50 and it came with a mini usm to usb cable but the transfer can take so long it's wild.

If I buy a hdmi mini to usb will be it be much faster?

USB2 vs USB3 would likely be the biggest difference, depending on the cameras USB interface. Not sure if the HDMI to usb will allow for data transfer or only video.

What can the camera output? What gen USB ports are you using? what gen is the USB cable?

HDMI is for audio and video. He isn't trying to transfer excel spreadsheets.

HDMI is not going to allow you to transfer your videos off the camera to a computer.

Sounds like the M50 only has a USB 2.0 port. So if you are transferring large video files it will just take some time

Why not just pull the SD card and stick it in the computer?
