What to do with an Apple Watch from someone who is deceased?

My uncle recently passed away and had an apple watch. He was with AT&T and I'm with Verizon and I'm 95% sure he still owed money on the watch and was paying it off.
Is there anything (easy) I can do with this or should I just return it to AT&T?

if he still owes money on it, you better wait until his estate settles all his debts before making a decision

Yeah, good point. It was mixed up with a bag of paperwork I took from his house and didnt even notice until I got home. We're "technically" not acting on the estate or pursuing succession so I guess me doing anything with the watch starts that process. Thanks...for now I'll just throw it in my junk drawer

After the estate is settled, if you keep the watch, you should be able to switch carriers. I believe there are instructions on Apple website
ETA
Changing carriers
Your iPhone and Apple Watch must use the same carrier. If you change carriers on your iPhone,* you need to remove the previous service plan on your Apple Watch and sign up for a new plan. Here's how:
On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.
Tap the My Watch tab, then tap Cellular.
Your Apple Watch should automatically switch to the carrier that your iPhone is using. If you need to add a new plan, tap Add a New Plan, then follow the onscreen steps. If your previous plan still appears in the Apple Watch app, you can remove it.
If you need help, contact your carrier.

wonder how something like that passes through probate if he was making payments on it and doesn’t own it outright?

Do you have the unlock code for the watch? If you don’t and you can’t unpair it then you have a paperweight and it’s useless.
