I am thinking 32" is a good size.
What is the best Smart TV for this size?
1080 dpi is a must.

I want to fall asleep to the TV.
That would also make it larger than the living room TV.

I'll answer this the same as if you asked what size condom do you need.
How big is it?

Depends on your viewing distance. We have a 47", but there's probably 8-9ft between the end of the bed and the TV.

Well, it all depends on how far the bed is from the wall. A 32" TV would look like a dot from the bed in my master bedroom.

If you think you want a 32”, get one size bigger. Something like a 40” with built in Roku. Sharp makes some for pretty cheap

What does Roku do that a smart tv cannot?

If you want to fall asleep to the TV, at least get one with a sleep timer. The flickering from scene changes isn't very restful, and the random nature of the audio can be a problem, too.

I picked up a 43 inch Samsung MU6300 during the Labor Day sale at Best Buy. Love it. Great video and bluetooth option for headphones at night is killer.

Roku is “smart” , as in it connects to the internet, it’s just a way better interface for all the smart tv apps and has more apps available for download than the average tv

And does Roku cost money to use or need an account to run?

You have to set up a Roku account to take advantage but it’s free. The Roku smart TV user interface is good. Especially if you do much streaming through different services. On the home screen are what they call “channels”. There is one for each of your various inputs (cable/sat box), gaming system, etc. Then there is one for each of the “channels” you get through the Roku store. Some of those are free and some are pay. It makes selecting your source really quick and easy.
We have a fire stick as one of the inputs as well because we use Kodi and there’s not a good way to get the Kodi app on the Roku system. Other than that, you wouldn’t really need anything else.

My current master is 11x11, and we have a 32. It's too small. When we move to a larger house, we will have a minimum 46 in the bedroom.

You can find some pretty good deals right now on Best Buy. I got a 55" Samsung 4K UHD Curved at solid price on there website.

We have a 40" just a few feet from the end of the bed. It is not too big.

Yep, I think my bed/headboard is farther than the couch in the living room.
