I don't know if this is tech enough for you guys, but I am looking to get a weather station the more information it will report the better. Bluetooth wired or wifi wireless?
thanks for any assistance.

I’ve got an Ambient Weather WS2000 LINK
Paid $192 with shipping, they’ve gone up in price some but I am happy with it. Installation was easy, put it on an old satellite dish mount on the roof, and no connectivity issues to the base. When the power goes out, sometimes it takes a while to reconnect to the Ambient Weather / Wunderground services. Ambient Weather website is pretty slick, but mostly use Wunderground. The display is crappy Chinesium, but does its job. The county has a rain gauge nearby and they track very well, however mine is mounted too close to the roof to get any meaningful wind stats.

quote:Yeah, there is a cheap sensor available for whatever you want to measure. If you've never done anything like that before, you will definitely learn a lot if you give it a shot. And yeah, I think it's very fun to build something myself (if it works
is this what you are talking about? That looks fun.

Oh, and I don't know if you can interface with these commercial products using anything other than their own monitoring pads, but if you build your own you can use it however you want. You can log your local weather and compare it to various weather service predictions. You could add a soil moisture sensor and combine that data with your rain gauge and weather predictions to know exactly when and how much you should water your garden. Then you can automate the watering process, too.
It's a slippery slope once you get started with DIY electronics and automation.

Saw these yesterday at Sam's. About half the price of same SKU at Amazon. La Crosse S81120 Wireless Weather Station with Wind, Temperature and Humidity

I have that one. Just put the sensor up on a pole attached to my pergola.

It says ability to add additional sensors. Have you added, or looked in to adding a rain gauge to it?

I've had a Davis Vantage Vue for years, but the instrument cluster is finally starting to give out. I'm probably gonna move to an Ambient station because you can upload to Weather Underground more easily. Davis is kind of in the stone age for getting info from the base station to the Internet. If you don't care about that, the Vue is a great system.

The WU web site is still good but they just updated the app and it is total crap. The negative reviews on the play store are withering.
