User Files Missing From SSD Drive

Question for the computer guys here. My laptop crapped out on my a little while ago. I removed the SSD drive and got an NVME adapter to plug the SSD drive into my work computer so I could recover my personal user files. However, there does not appear to be anything in my user file. I cannot click on my name and it shows that there are 0 bytes of information in the folder. Not sure if this is enough information to go on, but have I lost all of my files or is there some easy fix to get them to show up? Any thoughts on this appreciated.

Check the local one drive folder and sub folders if you use one drive. Just did the same and my desktop files were all under my one drive folder.

Sounds like it could be permissions if you can't open and its showing no size and files.

If you aren't able to open your user folder - it may be because the OS is protecting the folder from your current user account that doesn't have rights to that folder. You need to be a full Administrator to open a different users folder.
Try enabling the Administrator account and then log in to that account and try mounting the drive again.
Click start - type cmd, right click and select "Run as administrator"
type the command:
net user administrator /active:yes
hit enter - it should say the command completed successfully
Then log out of your current account - log back in to the administrator account and then mount your drive and try to access files.
When done - log out, log back in to your account, do the same command with "no" to disable the admin account.

Thanks for your help, guys. Problem solved!! I was trying to open the folder using my work laptop, on which I do not administrator privileges. I tried it again on my wife's personal laptop and everything opened up. Phew. Glad I didn't loose all my personal files, music, photos, etc.

I'm an admin on my computer and see this quite a bit with Windows 10 and USB'ing drives for data recovery. It's an odd issue because it doesn't happen all the time and I haven't had the time to begin keeping track of the times it does and does not in order to find the difference.
A trick I've found is just to copy the entire profile the the root of my C:\ (yes, it's a PITA because it's copying everything from the user's profile).
My guess is that 10's permissions may be handled differently that previous versions. Starting the copy process asks me to confirm that I want to give myself permissions whereas if profiles within the 7 structure were being access in a similar manner it would do so when simply browsing into the user's profile folder.

The NSA may restore them for you for a fee...
