Okay guys... I've read most of this thread... I live in BSL and just cancelled my Uverse service ($146/mo.). Got Mediacom($60/mo.) in here yesterday for Internet only and it's much faster. I have my Terk HD antenna and have a 65" Panasonic smart tv so I have my Netflix and vudu... From what everyone is saying, I need Vue over Sling which means buying a PS4 or Fire TV. Which is better?

Vue is better.. get the fire tv, not the stick

I read something recently that hinted that Vue would eventually get to Roku.
It said Sony basically wanted to limit the initial in rush of customers to work the kinks out first. It said sling did that as well, though I'm not sure how exclusive sling was when it first came out like Vue is.

When I let my trial expire they asked me lots of questions about devices. So I'd imagine they will go to more devices soon.
That said now that I've side loaded Kodi on the FireTv, don't think I'm interested in any other device. The UI isn't as nice as an AppleTv, but I can deal.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but does anyone have an opinion about an HBO subscription through HBO Now vs. SlingTV?
Reviews of HBO Now on Amazon seem to either love it or loathe it.
Unfortunately, no relatives or friends subscribe, so I'm on my own if I want to watch.

I use HBO Now
Works great.. Game of Thrones played smoothly and was available as soon as it started

Thanks!
Hubby was resistant to cord cutting, but I think he's coming around and would LOVE to finally get some HBO.
I'll have to look into Vue, too. We're enjoying Sling, but looks like Vue may have a few improvements. No History Channel would be a problem for him, though.

George,
You need some hardware to run the Kodi platform on. The poster above was just giving you the current cheapest/easiest option to do so (Amazon Firestick).
To my knowledge you can't install/run Kodi from the AppleTV OS. (maybe if jailbroken?)
There are other options if you're willing to spend the money. FireTV, Android Box, etc. You also can install it on a Windows or Mac OS X PC (or mini PC). For example: in my home we have 2 GBox's (Android mini computer ~$100). But my MIL/FIL run it on a Amazon FireTV, while my brother runs it on a Amazon Firestick. We can help you decide on what hardware you want to run Kodi on, then how / where to download Kodi, then what to repositories to get the add-ons you'll need from.

All of this sounds a little scary and complicated initially, but once you get the feel for it. it's completely worth the effort.
Hope this helps.

Are you using someone's log-in for watchESPN? Because you can't exactly tout that being not everyone can do it.
Fwiw, I do it
