I'm in a 6 and battery life, while not terrible, has definitely degraded. Might be time while I can still get some sort of credit for the 6.

I'll wait to see how the 9a looks. I went from a Pixel 4a to 7a. 4a was perfect. 7a is OK. I hate the raised camera on the back on the phone with a passion of a thousand suns. make a flat phone or at least make it thin enough that a thin case can make it flush.

Looks like this is how it's going to be moving forward. FWIW, the raised portion on my 6 isn't too bothersome. To me anyway. I keep my CCs in a holder back there, so the raised portion is tiny compared to the cards.

Nice that they made a small "Pro" option, but I don't think the upgrades they gave it really justify another $200 for me. Probably just stick with my 8 unless they have some crazy trade-in offer down the road.

We went from 3s to 6s. I was going to try to stretch to 10 because there is no reason to upgrade, IMHO.

What is the big selling point for the 9s? Gemini?

They're just trying to find excuses to sell minor iterations in tech. In 20 years or so, we'll have actually cool wearable tech. Right now it's just speed bumps and adding more cameras.

I guess it depends on one's current phone. For those with newer ones, there may be no incentive. I don't really use Gemini now, but I suppose I better start. For me, it's the age of the current phone. I skipped 3 numbers, so it's probably time.

The phone and upgrades seem “ok” but mainly everything was AI based.

If this were an Apple event, oh boy… we’d never hear the end of it.

iPhone 16 is looking very underwhelming. Even people that are diehard fans are more interested in the 17 because it’ll be smaller and the AI tech will be more useful at launch.

The stunt they pulled with the 9 Pros was crap. They took the 8 Pro, gave it a spec bump, then called it 9 Pro XL so it could increase the price $200.

Nice seeing a smaller pro model as not everyone wants a phablet.

Truth be told, there is not much difference between the 8 Pros and 9 Pros. The Tensor 4 chip is s very small improvement over the Tensor 3. The nits are increased but damn, how bright do you need a screen to be? The cameras are the same.

The AI is improved but how many of you actually use AI features?

Now, having sald all that, the software experience on a Pixel is best in Android world. It's not clunky like Samsungs and has some pretty nice features exclusive only to the Pixel.

Oh, and the 9's supposedly have a new modem. Pixels are known for reception and connectivity problems, as I can attest. Hopefully, the new modem makes a difference.

Agree. If I wasn’t invested with the whole fam damnily in Apple gear, we’d be using google family of phones, watches, gear.

My only issue with google is, well, google. However I don’t think they’re that much worse than Apple. They’re all California ultra liberals that capitalize on obtaining our data and selling us shite from china.

Hope it helps you sleep at night to think that conservative politicians give any more shits about you or your family. Some of you people have made this shite your identity and can't have a conversation without dragging politics into it anymore. It's kinda sad.

Will there be ways to disable the AI?

Funny as you say to that to the people who never wanted politics to be part of their daily lives. You are barking up the wrong tree.

Who is it you think I'm speaking to, and what was done to them to drive them to inject politics into every other sentence?

Every so often, I have Bluetooth issues between my 6 and UConnect. I have never figured out which item is the problem, but since a restart of the phone usually fixes it, I suspect the phone. Fixing that would be really nice.

I can relate to this, but I think that's one of the advantages? of the iphones. They are somewhat boring. It's natural to want something new, but eventually the newness wears off and it's just a phone again. Then, what you're left with is a less reliable, more complicated platform. Again, for tech savvy people, this isn't an issue, but for people that just want something to work and not deal with hiccups - the iphones tend to be a better choice.
