It will print PETG out of the box but if you have no experience with 3d printing, I would strongly suggest that PETG not be the material you start off printing with.

how come?

It's not as forgiving as PLA so as a beginner you are likely to get a lot more frustrated.

PETG is "sticky". You really need your retraction settings right or else the material just ends up all over the nozzle. Its pretty annoying. Use PLA to learn 3d printing. Once you get experienced then start learning other materials.

Been having a blast with mine. Learning a lot, but still much to learn. Getting some really good results.

What kinds of things are you doing? Fun things or practical things?

Learning a lot, but I still feel like a major newb, but that's what makes it fun. I got my kids to start learning 3d modeling. I told them that if they design something worthwhile, I'll go have it printed (they don't know they are getting this as one of their Christmas gifts). Well, they designed some platforms with their initials. I printed them and they were so proud. age 7 & 10

That's awesome! I've been involved in 3d printing since 2012 and I'm still a newb. Welcome to the never ending rabbit hole.

Printed this morning. Messing around.

printed the Ender Owl tonight.
turned out decent, i scaled it down pretty far (50mm tall) and turned the in-fill, or whatever it's called, down to 10%. there's a small sliver on the top of it's head that didn't fill in, but overall, it came out looking good.

Keep it rolling. Share what you're doing.

It’s alright, it really needs some upgrades to get the most out of it. I think the Enders are a better buy for cost/quality of print.
Just moved the octoprint on mine to an rpi zero 2

alright guys, i seem to have some issues with my ender 3 v2. i'm thinking it's a clogging issue, but i really don't know. here's what i've done so far:
1-Thought it was the nozzle, replaced it, still clogs.
2-Thought it was the hotend, replaced it, still clogs.
3-Thought it might be the bowden tube, replaced it, still clogs.
4-Thought it might be the original plastic extruder arm, took it off, not cracked, replaced it anyway, still clogs.
5-I've never calibrated my e-steps before. Calibrated it. Still clogs.
6-Manually leveled the bed. Still clogs.
7-Automatically leveled with CR-Touch and updating the Z-offset. Still clogs.
8-I can disconnect the bowden tube from the hotend and shove a piece of filament though the top of the hotend and it will ooze out just fine out of the nozzle as if it isn't clogged
9-Disconnected the bowden tube disconnected the hotend, when i go to turn the extruder handle, the gears still skip over the filament.
10-While the bowden tube is still disconnected, I can take tension off the filament with the extruder arm, then spin the extruder handle. Motor still skips. Had to turn the printer off to "reset" the motor for some reason.

When you say your motor skips are you saying that you can feel the actual gear on the motor slip?
I did have the set screw loose before and had the geared tooth skip and slip.
I've also had motors go out. Or the wire connection at the motor and/or board become loose. It mostly sounds like a wire or signal issue here.

i think i've rectified the problem. i was using some version of jyers firmware. updated to some "professional" firmware from Mriscoc. alot of people on facebook really love this guy's firmware. in my short experience, it's pretty good. alot more options that what jyers offers.

Mriscoc Github
in other news, Voxelab has their Ender 3 v2 clone, the Aquila, on sale today for $160 if anyone wants jump into the 3D printing game. apparently, Jyers has a firmware for it that basically turns it into the Creality firmware.
Amazon
YouTube
Github
you can even get a creality board (v4.2.7) to swap out and essentially have a ender 3 v2 for cheaper than buying an ender 3 v2 outright.

My kids have been printing pretty much round the clock on my 2 vypers. Since November. Can't believe they haven't broke yet. And using cheap pla under $10 per roll. Very impressed.

does anybody have any tips/tricks to print with PETG?
i've tried temps from 230-250 and it still globs/strings everywhere. the prints themselves are pretty solid, but they look like the dog got ahold of it.
