Andddddd the trouble begins.

Got my vyper. Printed the test print that came with the unit. Worked really great.

I then tried to print some other files. Press print. Nothing. The file is recognized and shows up.

Then, I tried the factory file again and even it won't print.

I've tried everything I can think of to troubleshoot.

Flashed 2 different new firmware files. No go.

Removed the filament out and put it back in. No go.

Rebooted 1000 times. No go.

I auto-leveled again and everything works great doing that.

Any troubleshooting suggestions?

It seems to be a software issue, but I would think firmware update or reverting back would solve it.

Is the print head and bed moving? Other than filament not loaded all the way in or perhaps your extruder tension isnt correctly set to feed filament, I got nothing.

I found the issue. I'm a moron. You have to touch the screen to "select" the file even though it's already loaded on the screen. The files changes color and then prints. I spent 5 hours troubleshooting this. Hahaha

Good job. It is frustrating and kinda interesting troubleshooting 3d printing.

ha. Thanks. Frustrating to say the least, especially since I'm so new. I am pretty good at troubleshooting things, but this owned me. Thankfully it wasn't a meaningless experience because I learned a lot about the printer and potential problems/fixes. Back in business!

The auto-leveling is great on this thing!

Glad you got it. It is easy to fall onto the mechanical failures but sometimes it is the "US"er. lol. Good deal. Show some pics if you can. I'm interested to see!

Here ya go. Also, pics of the first print. Test print out of the box. No change of settings.

Looks good man. You'll get that print looking even better messing around with different settings in your slicer. I would only add a glass bed to that but that's just my preference. Enjoy!

Thanks bro! Just starting and already love this hobby. It's a family Christmas present that I'm trying to learn before I take it home. My kids are very creative so they'll learn it fast.

Thanks champ!

I am waiting on filament. Anywhere to get locally?

I printed an SD card holder and it got 65% complete before I ran out of the little bit that came with my printer.

It actually still works being incomplete.

Depends on where locally is, but if you're in BR I know Joanne(sp?) the craft store by Lowe's on Seigen carries it. They had a big sale awhile back that I scoop some up from. May be able to check inventory online.

Been printing a lot of stuff. I'll get some pictures loaded up. I gotta say, the Vyper is so easy it's insane. Auto-leveling is legit. Everything is printing really nice. I've learned a lot in a short amount of time.

Anyone printing anything interesting?

I have printed phone cases, battery mounts to store all my cordless tool batteries, I printed some flip flops for my neice, and my favorite print of all....I printed a helicopter that I made into an LSU chopper. I got pictures of all of them but i dont upload them to imgur. I could email them to you if you'd like to check them out.

Anyone here have a printer capable of printing ABS? I’ve only ever used PLA and PETG, but am going to need something printed in ABS (it will be outside in sunlight) in a few weeks. I’m not sure my printer can handle it, plus I don’t have any experience with using ABS. Would gladly exchange some money if I could send the STL file and have someone print it for me.

If your bed can go to 80c you can print abs. Dont be too intimidated by it. I print abs without enclosing my printer. Just make sure not to print under an air vent. With abs you need a hotter bed than pla/petg and you dont want too much air blowing around during your abs print. I print abs in a spare room with the a/c vents closed and even that is me being oversafe. If you can print petg you can print abs i promise. I hate petg. Its harder to print with petg than abs in my opinion.

Use ASA, I print a lot of truck parts that get UV abuse, go ASA it has UV protection and holds up to heat like ABS. Filamentum ASA is what I recommend. It is very similar to printing ABS, maybe a bit hotter to print and bed needs to be hotter too. Think I am up 245-260 nozzle 100-110 bed. I don’t find it as sensitive to air movement during print like ABS, but still recommend an enclosure because it isn’t like PLA there. It can also be vapor smoothed like ABS, but I find it takes longer to do this, so may want to play with smoothing before you use a part you want to keep.

I have Prusa MK3S’s, they have a decent fillamentum profile built in for ASA
