The carriers will all have trade in deals like they just did for the 7. Most of the reason I got a 7 was expecting the 8 to be a big jump and have much more trade value than from my 6. I'm only paying $10 right now/month for a new phone. Hopefully I'll be able to trade it in and even if I go up $5-10/month I'll still the latest.

I'll second that. I have a $3/month plan and all the deices sync up and originals are stored in the cloud and on my iMac. It's cool having access to your entire photo library on your phone.

I still do weekly HD backups and rotate the drives so I have several generations of backup in a fireproof safe inside waterproof boxes.

I haven't seen a video of an iPhone blowing up. Maybe Samsung should have stopped constructing their phones with that "premium hardware" and tried to cut down on the life threatening aspects of their product.

But because it was iPhone it didn't become a huge deal like SAMSUNG, OMG

P.S: I hate both companies fwiw

Is that a joke? do you remember bendgate where the collective internet freaked out when they found out if you apply enough force to an iPhone it would bend?

That's not true, look at Antennagate and Bendgate.

I will say that Samsung isn't getting a fair shake here though. They failed trying to maximize what they were giving consumers. Clearly they need to improve their testing and design, but there shouldn't be long term damage for trying to give their customers what they wanted.
