Why in the hell would someone pay for Harmon kardon built in speakers? I'd rather they make TV's with no speakers as an option.

Maybe there is a large percentage of the population that isn’t tech savvy and would appreciate decent speakers built in. Also some people don’t want a bunch of equipment sitting around too.

I'm holding out for the model with Sonos built in

If the front speakers can take the place of a sound bar and add a sub to it, why not?

I agree, but those HK built in speakers are far superior to normal TV speakers, and probably better than a lot of sound bars.
Most people don’t have a nice audio system. Even a sound bar can be a pain for some people. It’s another piece of equipment, another remote, not everyone has space for one near their TV, etc
It could also be appealing as a secondary TV.

TCL makes great TV's with great pictures.
The first flat screen I bought was a TCL and it is now at work for a camera system and hasn't been turned off in about 3 years and is still going strong.

I'm sure a budget sound bar with sub sound better

haha. I love TigerWise.
I almost feel like this was a subtle troll to the anti-sonos folks, but seeing as how I'm right behind TigerWise and CAD on the sonos bandwagon, I died laughing.

Why isn't the TV in your OP sold in the states?

quote:Not sure why. The video in my OP has people representing TCL at the CES show earlier this year. They clearly show them, and the are stunningly nice looking sets.

However, I have seen a link from another forum, and the new USA 65" set is going to come in just under a thousand $.
Here's the first site with the new TCL model 65R617. LINK Unfortunately, TCL isn't showing the 6 series on their website... yet.
