Does anyone know the official launch date of the 2018 models?

Tried googling for info but only thing I found was:

The 6-Series will be available in 55- and 65-inch models this Spring

I'm also holding out for this. I've only seen people guessing some time in April.

Yeah, seems that way it looks like. I know the 17' models are starting to go out of stock from stores around my area so I'm hoping it's coming soon.

Question about these. I’m going to sling with my next move and was going to get one of these TCLs that have Roku built in. Does it work well streaming this way? Or am I still better getting an external streaming device?

I just bought a 2017 series last week(last one in the store), and the guy at Best Buy said they're expecting the 2018 ones in the next few weeks.

Just bought one and the streaming works great. I don't see the need for an external device unless there's a service Roku doesn't offer. I'm new to Roku though, so haven't untapped everything it has to offer. I mainly use Netflix, HBOGo, and WatchESPN.

The remote that came with the set does have a dedicated Sling button to launch it though, along with Netflix and Hulu. So you don't have to go to the Home screen and scroll to those apps to launch them.

I’m waiting for the 6-Series to come out so I can hopefully get a P-Series cheaper off of Amazon. Never thought about the stores running out of stock.

Amazon was out of the 55" ones when I checked last weekend. Every place was that I checked. Could only find the 49" ones, and most stored in town were really low on inventory.

The only problem with waiting ( and I am), is that I might miss an opportunity to get a smoking good deal on an LG 65" OLED.

There was one, yesterday, on Massdrop that dropped the price of the OLED65B7A from $2499 to $1699, but it ended at 2:00pm and I didn't find out until after 3:00pm.

As LG rolls out their 2018 models, these quick price drops are going to be more frequent. If I can get the right deal, I'd pull the trigger on an OLED instead of waiting on the TCL.

Depends on the service you use. For some reason, and it's been discussed in other threads here, Direct TV Now works best with Apple TV. I had a some buffering connecting through the Roku in the TV even though I was getting excellent WiFi reception. I connected an Apple TV that was on another TV in my house and it didn't buffer at all. I bought a Apple 4K TV for the TCL and it works great!

Check out this one on slickdeals. If you have a card with price protection, leverage it against tvsuperstores.com @ $1399.

Specs on this set look amazing.

96 zones for 55" and 128 zones for 65"

By comparison the 2017 55" had 72 zones.

The only disappointing thing is they still aren't making a 75" version. Guess we'll have to wait till 2019 for that potential.

Seems like I'd always look at the TV and feel like showering for even bringing tvsuperstores.com into a deal, even to save $500. That place is dripping with sleaze.

My pride can handle screenshotting a price on a less than reputable site to save me $500.

Yes, but is your conscience okay with you taking money, that's not yours, because, in truth, you already know there's no way that tvsuperstores.com is going to deliver that TV at that price. It's a bait and switch company. I couldn't do that in good conscience and then look at that TV everyday and know it's sitting there because I basically played along with a ruse to swindle a credit card company out of $500.

I never got the pricematch bait and switch site folks, you're stealing money, just as bad as those bait and switch sites themselves.

Keep up doing that and see price matching get dropped in the future among credit cards. Doing it wrong to save a few illegitimate bucks now might feel good, but when we all lose price matching in the future, you're ones to blame. Most of the time these folks are "Saving" the full $500 price match amount, which is ridiculous the credit card companies haven't caught on to blacklist price matches from sites like tvsuperstores. You're just credit card scammers.

They're within their rights to determine the advertisements they choose to honor. I'm not pulling a fast one on Citi.

However you want to rationalize that is up to you. Me? My personal sense of honor is going to cost a hell of a lot more than $500.

I'm torn between the MU8000 65 inch for ~$1,000 right now versus waiting for the TCL 6 Series 65 inch ($800?).

What's this board's thoughts? I've been tracking deals on slickdeals for about the past month.

Also considering a Sony 900E 65 inch if I can find a hot price...lately the best I saw was $1,100 but it required in-person pickup at Fry's which are not in my area.

I’m sticking with the TCL. I currently have 3 of the 55” P series and absolutely love them. Can only hope the 6-Series will be even better. For price and what you get out of viewing, they’re hard to beat.
