I saw this mentioned in another thread and I am wondering what the catch is? Is this really the end all solution for cable cutters that need sports?

If you don't need ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox then yes.

A $10 OTA solves that.

Depends on where you live.

I bought a $60 antenna. Based on the research I did it should pick up everything in my area, and in the middle of Baton Rouge I can't pickup CBS or ABC.

The only catch(es) that I've found in my research is that:

1) It can only be used on one device at a time
2) It is still relatively expensive if compared on a $/channel basis. But, IMO, your getting quality over quantity (i.e. $20 for channels you may actually watch vs $120 for 300 channels, 95% you'll never watch).
3) Being that it's web based streaming, you need good internet and good internet hardware to achieve optimal results.

Hulu and CBS app take care of those if you're too dumb to install an antenna

I bought a $30 antenna and receive CBS, ABC, Fox, NBC, PBS, and a bunch of other channels in south Baton Rouge. So, YMMV.

i like it so far (3 months in). it gets everything i need when combined with antenna. it goes out a little more than cable - you have to close and reopen it occasionally when it freezes. if my internet connection isn't particularly strong, it will load and buffer a lot. however, with the other options i have it hasn't been a big issue so far. i cut my $120/mo directv and have been fine with sling.

What hardware do you recommend? I have the fastest internet my provider sells.

use streaming boxes not sticks, I have used both and the sticks just can't run sling as effectively. I use a Roku3 and a Amazon Fire Tv currently and the ROKu 3 runs Sling better than anything else.

Love my Roku 3...the audio jack on the remote is a great feature.

Before spending 30-60$ on an antenna for locals, try this LINK.

<$5 antenna that has a range of at least 25 miles. I get 20+ channels (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, CW) in the Brandon/Rez area in MS.

Can't really install an antenna wrong.

Buy antenna.
Plug in antenna.
Watch as all channels work, except for ABC and CBS that blink in and out constantly.

Yes I realize that I can get a different antenna. I was trying to avoid having to buy something that I install in the attic. I can't install one outside.

Move the antenna to different areas of the room, then rescan for channels.

I'm using a fire stick, that may be my problem. I'll be running it on Xbox one come football season, maybe that will help
