I would have jumped on it for that price.
I'd agree with you except that it's still a Vizio.

I used to deliver TVs, Vizio was the one I was with the most problems. But it was only one series, the first E series, and they replaced every single one. But out of Birmingham alone we were replacing 4-8 a day between 6 routes for over 3 months.

The screens were burning out after a short period of time, I'm talking less than 30 hours, and boom, no more tv.

That being said, that's the only problem I've seen from Vizio, and they stood behind their product in a way that I'm sure cost the company millions.

So get the deal, it's a fantastic price on a huge 4k TV. Makes me wish I had the money to go pop for one.

UDPDATE: turns out TV has display issues, no surprise being an open box and all. Called VIZIO support and they are going to swap it out but said they no longer carry this model so I'm getting something called a "M60-C3" which they said is a newer model but comparable.

Online reviews seem to indicate its a pretty good TV as well. Hope I'm not going backwards quality-wise with the M model here.

The one you got was a 2014 model. I don't mean to sound elitist. I personally would never buy a Vizio. But I'm a video professional and my business revolves around color accuracy and image fidelity. Vizio, to my trained eye, has the worst image of all major brands. Side by side, every other manufacturer beats it on black levels, color fidelity, image scaling and motion smear.

That said, you made a great deal. Congrats.

Bump for new feature discovered. The Vizio m series at least has a multimedia option in the Vizio app bar.

You can click on that and it will use DLAN to find any connected NAS! Just streamed 2 1080p BD rips perfectly. Going to try this with a raw 4k mp4 file next and if this works I can hold off on Kodi for now. May just stick one of my Chromecasts on it for now and see how 4k boxes evolve.

no. M series was announced in Feb 2015 and didn't ship until mid year. This is still the current m series from Vizio.

Also I'm under no delusions a $500 tv will compare to what goes into a $3000 model.

I bought my 60" Vizio in 2012 for $799 and it's still running like a champ.

Successfully ran some 4k demo content from my nas to my Vizio just using the multimedia app built into the TV.

However there are definite limitations to supported audio and video formats. Looks like handbrake conversion tools are in my future.

Ran a fireworks demo and Elysium trailer.

Both were stunning and blow away Netflix 4k streaming.

Eta not that 4k Netflix looks bad.. It's just you can clearly see the compromises made to pull that off vs direct source 4k.

Eta2 will add my findings to 4k thread but 4k encoding varies depending on the TV model so it's not a one size fits all scenario.
