Yesterday, I had my windshield replaced. I gave my keys to the safelite guy so he could do whatever he had to do to replace windshield. Well, after he finishes the job, he gave me a booklet but not keys. Now, I can't find my keys, my truck hasn't moved so they can't be far (if I have them). The frustrating thing is that he said he put them in the cup holder which they aren't there and I've searched everywhere. What can I do about this?
A - get a new key made and see if safelite will pay.
B - get my spare keys and forget about it.
C - other/OT help

We've contacted each other 3 times today. He says he searched his van and can't find them.

Why did he need your keys to change the windshield? Am I missing something?

Where did you leave the truck?

Maybe someone else spotted them in there and stole them?

Your supposed to take cowl panel and wipers off before replacement. When done put back together and then turn car on to test wipers. Also if car has rain sensor, compass on rear view, etc to make sure working properly once done, or just needed to move vehicle for whatever reason. Like everyone else said, contact glass guy. Possibly safelite will reimburse you for new set of keys.

This sounds like the kind of thing that usually happens to me. I would start by being pissed off for a few hours and then realize I'm screwed. Not sure what I'd do next.

Hope this helps.

Call manager and demand new key including dealer programming if required. Don't settle for anything other than manufacturer key. If it's a nice car, I might inquire about getting it rekeyed at dealer. The guy could steal your ride now.

1.) Get a quote for replacement keys exactly like you had.
2.) Call Safelite.
3.) Find out the name of the installer's Manager.
4.) Ask to speak with him.
5.) When you get him on the phone, advise him that the installer needs to have his work reassigned ASAP so he can return to your location to help you look for the keys.
6.) If he disagrees, inform him of the quote and ask him when you can stop by and pick up a check from him to cover that.
