I’d rather pay for that to be automated. It’s well worth the little bit of $. For instance if I’m at the camp I might not get the notification because cellular coverage. I’d feel a lot better knowing if there is a fire or a MS-13 gang member breaking into my house to rape my wife and kids that the police will be dispatched automatically and fast.

I pay $18/month for ADT. Called and said I was switching to a competitor and they matched their price.

They are supposed to be adding more integration, but few details at this time

It’s gonna be part of Alexa. Amazon will get them up to snuff.

Yep. The base station hardware is capable of integration. I'm glad that they went ahead and released this instead of waiting longer

Have you installed yours yet?

Estimated delivery of today, I don’t expect it to be here til Monday though based on current location. I will put up some pics and a review compared to my current simple ADS security system when I get it and install.

Basically replacing everything in my current system with exact same sensors and adding 3 smoke/CO detectors while saving $30 a month.

So mine came in today, I have not done the install yet, but I have pulled it out of the box.

For those wondering about the smoke/CO detector, just looks like it is a first alert with no special ring marking.

The door sensors are quite big, but the transmitter size is actually smaller than my current ADS version. The other side is much larger.

The keypad definitely has a very shiny toy plastic feel to it. It is disappointing, but this is how they met the price point. I am most interested to see the app functionality though, as I see myself arming/disarming far more often through a phone or ipad.

Motion detectors are about the same size and feel as my ADS ones, nothing really to complain about there.

May not be able to install til friday, got some other things that came up that I need to take of first around the house.

Correct, it's a Honeywell system. ADS is the provider.

Got it installed today and I am pretty pleased with it so far.

Installed Contact Sensor, pretty easy install, I went with a screwed in mount over the double stick tape. Includes both tape and screw mount. Used some of the original holes of the Honeywell system I had, but had to add some holes because of the length of these.

First Alert Smoke/CO alarm, these just fit right in my current smoke alarm locations. I had regular First Alert alarms already, so I didn't have to make any changes besides a quick swap. These are battery only instead of being hardwired though.

Motion detector install, lets you install in a corner or straight. Used the already existing holes from my Honeywell motion detectors. They seem to detect just as well as the honeywell sensors.

I haven't installed the keypad yet. I'm unsure if I will do it yet or not. The app on my phone works just as well as the keypad and has some additional functionality.

I don't have any pics of the base station, but I stuck it in the lock box that protected the battery backup for my current alarm system. Went in real easy there and hidden. Battery backup on the keypad and the base station, so you don't have to worry about losing power.

I installed 4 contactor sensors, 2 motion detectors, 1 range extender, 1 keypad, and 3 smoke/CO alarms. It already knew to look for the accessories that came in the initial box, but adding the others you just have to scan a QR code on the back of the device, was super simple.

I really really want the Dome Alarm and maybe a few more contact sensors. So far I don't see myself going back to a much more expensive, but very similar Honeywell system. The Honeywell does have a much nicer keypad. I hope they add some more preferences to the Ring system to kind of adjust how the alarm reacts if certain sensors are tripped. I recommend the setup so far.

Thanks for the review. I’m likely going to get the same system. What are the limitations on how the alarm system reacts to sensors currently? In other words what do you want changed?

I would hook it up but I’m assume it has a panic button and the ability to enter a duress code. You got it use it. Make sure everyone in your home knows where it is and knows how to use it. Not sure the makeup of your household but those could be very useful in the event of an emergency.

Also if you have any range issue with the sensors move the panel out the metal can.

Tigerwise essentially hit the nail on the head in the next post.

No panic button or duress code that I can find. That's something they should be able to change easy though, that's a pretty big missing feature right now though.

Another thing I would like to see is setting up a single sensor as a delayed entry sensor while the rest are set to immediate set off. Another easier software change, so it's possible for them to add.

No range issues so far, everything set up real quick, so the metal can is fine.

I was wrong, there is a duress command, but it is through keypad only. I will be mounting it in the bedroom now. Awesome thing about the keypad is you can slide it off the mount with ease and take it with you. Very nice feature.

They are working to add it to mobile according to the support people. Ring support is really great to work with that much is sure.

I made the switch to it about 4 days ago. It's easy to set up and install. Everything is working great. The app is nice, and the wife loves the price.
