Rackmount UPS

I'm in the market for a 2500W Rackmount UPS with a NEMA L5-30P connection. It seems like there's just a handful of brands out there. Which do you prefer? Is lithium-ion worth the extra cost?

CyberPower is the brand I have used for more than 15 years, and their UPS selector shows models with the connection type you need.

no complaints at all after a year in service.
i mainly have my plex server, fiber router and a couple of extrernal drives hooked up and it sends notifications to my phone & email whenever there is an event (usually when the server is getting an auto-update in the middle of the night and has to restart) and the only time it ran out of power was when our electricity was out overnight.
i understand batteries are swappable as well so if it starts to fail you can upgrade to better batteries instead of replacing it.

That they are. I had an embarrassing amount of UPS' in the house. On the DMARC, every router and switch, PC & NAS, etc. I've replaced the batteries about every four years.
I also greatly value the ability to turn the audible warnings off.

APC or Eaton without a doubt

Thanks for the recommendations.
The unit I'm replacing is a Cyberpower. Evidently, a Cyberpower won't turn on if it's batteries won't hold a charge. I don't know if this annoying feature / bug is common to newer Cyberpower devices or UPSs in general.

I don't think it's limited to Cyberpower. While I haven't had that precise malfunction (usually I only find out a battery is dead is because a switch on a 650VA UPS dies 30 seconds after a power outage,) it's probably at the electrical level, and has little to do with APC/CyberPower, etc.
There are circuit "checks" to permit the flow of power, ground, etc., that occur many levels below software and branding (capacitors, etc.) Have you tried just replacing the batteries?

I have that exact model but with the 700va batteries. It's been working fine for almost 5 years now. Just replaced the batteries in it.

You're right. It's not an issue exclusive to Cyberpower. From APC's website:
I haven't replaced the batteries because the UPS is 15 years old. That's why I'm looking to upgrade.
quote:
SC, SU, and SUA Smart-UPS require a functional battery be connected in order to turn on. If the battery is disconnected, or failed and completely drained, the UPS will not turn on.
SMX, SMT, SRT, and SMC series Smart-UPS do not typically have this limitation, however a deeply discharged battery may still be an issue. Try disconnecting the battery.
