Are you using a PS4, PS3 or a Fire TV?

ETA - I ordered my GF a free ROKU with a 3 month sling membership and I still have 1 1/2 months to go

Weird. My sling is better so far. That said the lineup and picture quality may make me ditch sling.

What I meant was sling is more stable and much quicker on my fire TV. I won't like losing History and H2 but now that H2 has been changed I don't care as much. The VUE lineup is so much better. Real test will come with Walking Dead Sunday to see. I haven't had problems that some have had with sling for high demand shows. Also, I was shithoused when I wrote the response lol.

I see FS1/FS2 and some regional college Fox Sports channels. Do they have Fox Sports New Orleans? Accessing Pelicans games is one of the things holding me back from cutting the cord.

The Fox Sports regional channels aren't available, but I have a feeling that using Vue's credentials you can log-in to the Fox Sports Go app on a Fire Stick, etc to watch Pelican games. I have done it before, but not with Vue credentials.

Vue is impressive.

I'm not sure that picture quality is any better than Sling. I can look at the bitrate later tonight and compare.

I think the guide (I wish they'd swap the x/Y axis), the pause/RW ability, DVR, and ability to watch multiple streams will cause sling to lose a lot of subscriptions.

I'm locked in to Sling for 2 more months due to my FireTV deal, but when I'm out I'm switching to Vue.

The UI can use an upgrade, but it's buttery smooth on the FireTV (box not stick).

Anybody got an update on how they like their experience with playstation vue so far? Is it worth it and better then what you expected?

I've had a lot of hiccups while streaming DVR/On Demand stuff, 3-4/hr. I'm on wired ethernet so it's definitely their service and not my network.

It's definitely "worth it" though.

In fact it is actually too good to be true. I see a price hike in the very near future. Probably $10 across the board.

Being its new I know it's going to take a while to work out the kinks but when they have it working right it's going to be real nice. My friend likes it but he canceled the free trial because of the network messing up but that is good to hear you like it though.

What's weird is I've had very few issues with the live content. It's the DVR'd stuff that has given me issues. Picture quality doesn't seem to be as good, and lots of hiccups.

It wasn't a wildly popular show either. Mad Money with Jim Cramer

Once I'm out of my contract with Sling I'm going to buy a new FireTV and sell my Nexus Player, cancel Sling and buy Vue. Man I'm going to miss voice searching youtube.

I still can't get it to work on my PS3. Not sure why. Doesn't matter, I'd never use that for a streaming box anyway.

It's working on my PS3 now.

Colors are more saturated on my PS3 than on my FireTV. Not sure if that is a setting that I have wrong or what. Picture takes much longer to buffer up to full quality on PS3. I'm staring at a shitty picture for 1-2 minutes before it looks HD. Motion also jittery in that time. Both are on wired connections. I think PS3 is 10/100 Mbit ethernet. Fire TV is gigabit, doubt that is the difference but maybe.

PS3 drops frames. Not really noticeable unless you are watching sports.

UI not as buttery smooth on PS3 across the board. In fact it's not a good experience.

Guide grid takes longer to populate on PS3. This would not pass the WAF. The guide is little nicer on the PS3 though. You get little icons telling you what is a live show vs. catchup vs on demand. It's neat because you can actually click on past shows to watch directly from the guide. You can do this on the FireTV too, but you don't have visual clues to let you know which shows are eligible to do this for.

The extra buttons on the PS3 remote are used nicely. You get shortcuts to guide, DVR, etc. You also get shortcuts to add shows to your DVR etc. Would be nice if you could map the "guide" function to the info button on FireTV. A dedicated guide button is nice instead of having to navigate the UI.

Watching shows on both PS3 and FireTV right now. No noticeable drawbacks of streaming two shows simultaneously.

Not a fan of the PS3 experience. I would imagine the PS4 is the best Vue experience. Vue is still really nice, just wouldn't judge it based on the PS3.

Thanks for your update and I'm sure in a couple of months playstation should have everything worked out by then.

Some post-Walking Dead observations.

I don't know when Sling posts their on demand episodes. It's within 24 hrs, but not within THE hour. It's not available yet.

I DVR'd it with Vue, and it's available already to watch just like a regular DVR. Nice.

I had two buffering issues watching it live on Vue. Each lasted about 10 seconds. Picture quality was poor all the way through. Worse on PS3 than on FireTV. It was watchable on both, but definitely sub par. No complaints though. I'd rather watch a poor feed than have to wait until Monday for Sling due to being kicked off.

Sling is probably much more popular right now, and has more people trying to watch the Walking Dead, but point is, if Vue can handle Walking Dead, it can handle anything...

I had no issues with TWD but I didn't try to DVR it. Picture was great and no buffering or lag

I was able to restart it no problem midway through due to some distractions at home but it played great on my PS4 great. Only thing that was odd was when I needed to pause, it automatically continued playing after 10 seconds or so. Any reasoning behind that?

Can you access SEC Network+ on Watch ESPN if you only have the Access package? I want to be able to watch LSU Baseball, but I would only use the basic package.

Good question.

I would also like to know (sorry if its already been addressed and I missed it) if I can use this subscription and qualify for Watch ESPN on my mobile devices when I'm away from my home network?

That's a good question. I didn't test that out when i had my free sub. I'm going to defer this to someone else who is using the service.

I still have a little over a month until my Sling sub runs out..but I might just pull the plug and purchase Vue sooner

i highly doubt it. you don't even get the SEC Network if you have the access package. that's like asking, "i don't subscribe to the SEC Network on my Dish/DirecTV account, but can i still watch it on my WatchESPN app on my phone?"

sure, there could be a glitch in the system that would let you, but i would expect it to be fixed soon if that were the case.

Yeah, you're not getting SECN+ unless you're subscribed to the package that has the SEC Network
