That's a good question. I didn't test that out when i had my free sub. I'm going to defer this to someone else who is using the service.

I still have a little over a month until my Sling sub runs out..but I might just pull the plug and purchase Vue sooner
I just checked a ROKU forum, and the posters were saying that WatchESPN can be authenticated through a Vue subscription. That's good news. I am looking at this for replacing Fios and using it on a Roku outside for WatchESPN games or on my Note 5 when I'm traveling away from home.

LINK

I already posted that info earlier in the thread. My question was if you could watch it outside of your home network. I'm 99% sure you can, but can't confirm.

That link lists all the stand-alone apps you can access with a vue credential

So whats the concensus regarding using this on a fire tv(not stick) with UI and ease of use?

I am REALLY considering going to best buy and purchasing a fire tv just to try this out.

The newest generation of Fire TV is getting good reviews. I would stay far far away from a fire stick and the 1st gen TV.

Worst case scenario is you waste your time on a 7 day trial and you can cancel after. You could also bring back your fire TV to best buy for a $100 credit.

I'd say go for it.

ETA - Here is the review list from Amazon. Scroll down.

A quote from someone on Reddit: "It's excellent. It's identical to the ps4 vue app. In fact it has an advantage over the ps4 since the fire remote is more intuitive for non gamer users"

Extra money is worth it for fire tv over stick Imo. Especially if you are going to use it heavily.

I have 2 fire tvs, roku, chromecast, and an Xbox one. The fire tvs are by far my favorite devices to steam on.

Oh yeah, for sure. You have to look at it like a cell phone or laptop. It's a platform you're going to be using for maybe 2 years so +$50 is not a big deal.

my 1st gen FireTV still works just fine. there's not much difference between the 1st and 2nd so I'm not sure as to why reviesws would be much different.

or were you just referring to the PSTV setup?

Alright Vermillion. My current equipment:

AppleTV
Chromecast X 2
DirecTv

is my best option to cut DTV and buy a Fire TV and forget about the chromecasts and AppleTV?

So is it ever going to get to Roku or Androidtv?

I'm waiting for the day Androidtv has the WatchESPN app and something like Vue and i'll no longer need any external device and just plug my ethernet into the tv and be good to go.

seems too good to be true. No slingtv or Hulu needed, just Vue. I'm not buying a Playstation for it.

How has the experience with a hardwired FireTV been for those with it?
Sling is 100x's better on my hardwired Roku3 than on the fire and roku sticks.

First, what's your internet speed?

Who are you trying to please (Wife/So..Kids), and what channels are must haves?

Fire TV is going to be $100. It's a faster device than the stick plus you can hard wire it to make the streaming better.

If you go with SlingTV/Vue, you're not going to have locals. You're going to have to run a line down from the attic if you want it to look good, but some antennas are pleasing to the eyes in a living room. Here is a link to a signal locator.

I'm sure Fire TV worked out a great deal for it to be Fire TV exclusive for a good bit..but I honestly have no idea. Maybe it was just for the initial roll out of Vue?

Not sure exactly what I'm getting at home, but my package is:
Download Speeds: Up to 50 Mbps
Upload Speeds: Up to 25 Mbps

I'm selfish and only care about myself. S/O basically needs HGTV

Not a problem. I'll be saving enough to warrant this purchase.

Also not a problem. I figured this would be the case.

You're fine on all accounts..HGTV is available in the lowest package, too.

Have you typed in your address into the TV signal finder? I built my own Digital Antenna and it works great in the attic. I'm about 25-30ish miles from any tower, too.

does the search on the fire tv work like the Roku? Does it search all platforms are just amazon?

I didn't notice any deals on the Playsation site like Sling had with it's devices where you prepay for sling and get free Roku/Firetv/appletv or discounted devices.
