Since we are on the topic of their customer service...

I had the billing problem that I mentioned about 2 weeks ago. Ironically, after this thread was posted, I got an email from them saying for my inconvenience they were crediting my account 29.99. I have no idea what this is for and I have no idea how this is going to benefit me...because I created a new account to get things to work. So now I have a $30 credit on an account that I don't even use anymore

You can add me to the list of Vue users. Cut the cord on Friday after the trial went well.

.. I was questioning if I should use the "I got over 30+ people to sign up for this" line.

Have Lafayette Cox customers figure out what the problem is? Still having an issue signing up for a free trial.

The only issue I had was when I first signed up...it auto-assigned me a zip code and when I tried to put in my own, it said they didn't service my area (even though they service all of the U.S.). I let it use the zip code it auto-assigned, and it worked.

Going through this PITA right now. For some reason Amazon has never recognized my zip code and always assigns me 70801. I had a different zip on my PSN profile. After realizing that it was giving me an error bc my zips were different between my FireTV and PSN, I switched both to my correct ZIP. Now they say it's not available in my area. Switch both back to 70801. Error.

So much more trouble than it should be.

It really is

So much trouble to prevent account sharing, but they make the process so painful for the general public.

Is there a way to jump directly to a channel? Rather than having to scroll all the way through the guide?

Also, is there a way to change the guide format from the left to right to the more traditional top to bottom?

ETA: Just got Kodi installed on my Fire Tv... DirecTv is not going to be getting a contract renewal from me later this year.

What do you pay per month for Directv? How many months left on your contract?

Between $110-120

I started in December so 7-8 months on my contract I think.

I figure I have a chunk of costs to invest. I have 1 fireTV already, need 2 more. Plus I would need to get an OTA antenna and I'd want the Tablo OTA DVR.

So I'm looking at somewhere in the range of:

FireTVx2: $200
Tablo DVR: $300
OTA Antenna: ~$100

I figure my ETF with DirecTV right now will be somewhere around $155 (just a guess of ($20x7)+15)

So my upfront costs would be $755 and my savings through the end of my contract would be $490 I believe.

That big up front cost of $755 is hard to swallow all at once.

IMO....if you have Vue, you prob won't get much use out of the Tablo. The only local you wouldn't have on demand access to is CBS.

If you want CBS on demand at this point, CBS all access is $4.99 I believe.

I was going to go the Tablo route myself, but Luckily Vue covers our needs. I do have the OTA antenna.

Just looked. Apparently my DirecTV bill went up for some unknown reason to $132.

Ota antenna could cost less than $10 if you're in a good enough range

On TV Fool I am between 30-40 miles from all the New Orleans channels and they are in Green and a few yellows. (Their relative rating scale). I'm in the Covington, Abita, Mandeville area.

I guess I can order one of the cheaper ones and see what happens.
