Have a BENQ projector in my mancave. The space used to be my carport but we had it closed in. I am having trouble with apps not working in there. CBS sports especially and the other ones that march madness comes on (tbs, tru, tnt). I’m using a firestick. (Have tried diff fire sticks to ensure it’s not this particular one bugging out ). The app will usually load up but when I click on the game or show I wanna watch the little buffer circle just keeps spinning or the show pops up and will freeze immediately. I have ran speed tests on my phone in this room and it seems to be getting a good signal in there. I’m trying to nail down the issue and figure out what to do. Is the projector itself potentially a problem?? I remember having a similar issue with it in the living room of the house before the mancave was built. Should I upgrade my streaming stick to one of the more expensive/better ones (I’m just using firestick lite). These apps work on all the other firestick lites on all the other tvs throughout the house. I’m really stumped on what to do. Any advice appreciated.

The projector is connected to the fire stick? If so it's not the projector. See if you can find network signal on fire stick. I don't use one so not sure where it is. Maybe you need a mesh system or some sort of equipment to boost your signal. If you're using apps on your projector then same thing.

Plug a laptop into it and see how that handles streaming with the projector, just trying to eliminate the streaming device

I'd bet its the wifi signal in the cave. Can you put the firestick in a tv or laptop in a different spot in the house?

The projector is just projecting the image it doesn't do anything with the streaming.

Is the fire stick powered by AC? or a usb port on the projector? If it is AC powered, I'd throw a Wifi AP out there. Mesh or whatever.

It’s ac powered. I guess it has to be the signal bc now you mention it I have used those fire sticks elsewhere and they’ve worked fine. It doesn’t ALWAYS do it. About 25-50% of the time I’d say. I mean those aforementioned apps are kinda crappy on other tvs from time to time but they crap out CONSTANTLY in the mancave. The only thing that confused me was before the room was built and I tried to use the cbs and fox sports app on the firestick thru the projector in my living room I was having all these same issues. I couldn’t figure out why but I don’t see how it could be the projectors fault.

I personally don't like firesticks. I have had buffering issues with them...I think they are cheap, small, and have weaker wifi abilities. BUT they are cheap small and work well with good wifi. I am an apple type tho so I may be biased lol.

I have had issues with them too. The only reason I have so many is because l like to stream the scrapers and kodi stuff occasionally. I am considering trying an apple device or the high end Roku for that room though. I’m starting to think the internet in there I just a touch slower and that little difference is causing the problems. I think that’s why the issues comes and goes.

I had issues with Firestick at my projector. Maybe Emissions related. Replaced with $hieldTV and zero problems since.

I'm not sure. I have a shield tv pro. I use it to stream Plex,Netflix etc to my projector. I would imagine there isn't a better streaming device. It does run android If that helps with your question.

Sports app from kodi builds like “the endzone” or “the crew”. Also cinema app. Stuff like that.

I just wanna say I appreciate the replies fellas. Off work today and I think I’m gonna go out and snag a new device to try .

Yea that’s why I had the fire sticks/TVs for kodi and the likes. It was a pita to keep it up to date and find good streams I wanted so I don’t mess with it. I don’t watch enough tv lol.

Not sure if you can side load that stuff on the nvida shield…I think you can. It’s android based and better than the fire stuff in regards to performance.

Good luck

Edit to add looks like you should be gtg with kodi on a shield/shield pro
