Problem using Microsoft 365 with MacBook Pro

I updated my operating system for my MacBook Pro with Sequoia 15.7.3 several months ago. After the upgrade I realized I could not access Word or Excel documents so I installed Microsoft 365. Seemed to work fine initially but when I try to access Word or Excel all I get is a spinning beach ball. I can force quit Word or Excel and after restarting my computer I can use Word. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
