This was in 2012..so not that long ago..in the "Magnolia" section of a Best Buy here in town.
Shame on them.
And we get all uppity if someone tries to sell something on ebay for a 50% profit and call them all kinds of names.
eta I was deleting old photos and came across this one.

I was buying monoprice HDMIs even then. What a damn rip off hdmi cables were at big box stores. They are actually still damn expensive at Best Buy.
24 foot in wall, 4k, 18GB/s HMDI from Best Buy...$120.00
25 foot in wall, 4k, 18GB/s HDMI from Monoprice...$25.00

I can't knock Best Buy for trying. They take razor thin margins on TVs and Computers in exchange for making up the profit in forms of cables and accessories. There wouldn't be a Best Buy if you could only get things on razor margins with huge brick and mortar stores.
That being said, this Chocolate HDMI is hilarious. What a joke!

If anyone thinks that AudioQuest Chocolate series cables are expensive, go check out the rest of their lineup. You can spend $1500 on a USB cable or $13,500 on speaker cables. Those were two I plucked out quickly. I am sure it gets far worse.
AudioQuest List Prices
...and AudioQuest isn’t even close to the most expensive cable manufacturers in business. How about $78,000 for some speaker cables? Go Google search “audiophile cables”. $78k is not the top of the heap.

Audiophiles are insane. And I say that as someone who spends a lot of money on shite other people would say is dumb. Audiophiles are a whole different breed.

I love great audio gear but OMG the cable thing drives me nuts. It's a religion with some audiophiles. It's been shown again and again that well made cables are essentially perfect (beyond the threshold of equipment that's more sensitive than human ears to differentiate), and thus anything else is introducing some kind of distortion. Amir at audiosciencereview.com is one of the latest to do some objective testing on this.
I'm on a few Facebook audio related groups, and a couple of weeks ago the admin on a hi-res streaming group posted a breathless preview of a new USB cable from Nordost. You think Audioquest is nuts? Nordost is the next level up. Their Valhalla USB cable goes for something like $3500 per meter. There are also Ethernet cables at ridiculous prices. Anyway, when I called out the snake oil insanity of this on a cable transmitting digital packets, quite a few folks laughed at me. I hate that this scam gives people ammo to dismiss audiophiles out of hand.

Are you trying to tell me that my 1s and 0s are NOT better quality than yours?

It’s insane. Now, you don’t want bargain bin cables, but as long as you go one tier up to get the thicker, fully insulated cables, you very quickly reach the point that a cable is a cable is a fricking cable

Audioquest is excellent but for a digital interconnect I can't imagine why it would matter.
As long as the signal is intact and jitter isn't too bad it probably doesn't matter.
