Password manager recommendations

I have way too many passwords, and way too many accounts using the same exact password.
I was thinking of trying the free version of LastPass and upgrading to premium if I like it.
Just thought I would check in here first to see if anyone recommends a different one.
I need it to sync to multiple devices and be fairly user friendly for family members.

1Password beats LastPass in my book. I've used both. 1Password has several different categories of account types and the fields for each account are much more customizable. This all adds up to a much more organized experience.
Plus, the user interface for 1Password is much better than LastPass.

So do I need to download the extension at the office and on any computer that I may not use regularly? If I go to a friend's house and just want to check email really quick I can't do that easily?
ETA: I know I'll have my phone but let's assume I need to use a computer for something that isn't mine.

I have been playing with it for a few hours now, so I am no expert, but I will try to answer with my limited knowledge.
No, you don't have to put the extension on every computer you use. You put it on those you use on a regular basis plus your phone.
If you are on a random computer you would have to sign into any accounts anyway. Your new passwords will be impossible to remember if you've allowed lastpass to randomly generate each one, but all you have to do is pull up last pass on your phone, look at the tab for whatever account you need and it will show you the password and you can manually sign into whatever account you need.
Your regular devices just sign right in with no hassle.

Last pass had been really great for me. I think Dashlane May be a better service but I’m already paid up with LastPass and have zero complaints. It’s wonderful with Face ID on iOS.

I've used KeePass on PC since 2004, KeePass2android on Galaxy Tab S4, and MiniKeePass on iPhone. I don't store passwords in cloud, though KeePass does support this.

Thanks for the answer. Trying LastPass a little and it's annoying me so far

Lastpass isn't bad. I went with Enpass. Lastpass has been hacked twice since 2016. User data was encrypted, so they weren't very worried. Enpass doesn't store any of your info, hashed or not, on their servers. You can back things up and sync them, but you have to do that through another service like OneDrive or Google Drive.
It's free for both personal and business use on pc's or mac's, but you have to pay $10 for the mobile app (one-time fee).

I have 2 bank accounts (personal and biz) at one institution and the stupid thing couldn't understand I had 2 different user names and fricked me up and now I'm locked out of one of my accounts.
So when I use FP to create a new password should I not be hitting save on my computer to save it to it's own password manager?

This is something I am going to have to figure out. I also have certain sites with multiple profiles.
My guess would be to manually sign in to one the save it. Then go back and sign into manually then do another save.
I would think the password manager would either give you 2 tabs to the same site or ask you which one you want.
I'm sure they have this figured out, I just have to figure out how to do it.

I tried it this way and it kept trying to use the first one I saved. I think I'm giving up on LP.

I thought about this today. If I got killed otw to work tomorrow, my wife would have trouble accessing a lot of stuff.

There is actually a specific feature on LP just for that. You can email as many people as you want "emergency access."
You email them now and if something ever happens they click that link.
You can also set this up on a time delay in case one of them trys anything sketchy.
Set a 24 hour delay and if one of these people try getting in you have time to say no before they get access.
