Looking to upgrade to a 75". Max budget=$1500
I fell like I may be shooting too low for a good tv.
Any suggestions? I've been out of the tv game for 6 years at this point, so all the different models are confusing as hell.

A that size you are probably looking at budget TVs, probably just find one that fits your feature requirements and look them up on rtings.
Rtings 70-75" TV Suggestions
They are showing the Hisense 75H8G as a good TV for your range.
I know the TCL 8 series is getting good reviews, but is definitely a bit out of your price range.

I have the 65" H8G, and have been happy with it so far. The only knock I have on it is that if you have white words on a black background, the white tends to bleed, and you don't have crisp edges on the words. This really only comes into play during the credits. Doesn't bother me, but it is something that is noticeable.

Are there any advantages between the brands? Or is it more user preference?
My last TV I went with was a budget Samsung and it's nothing to be proud of. I want to avoid that decision again, so if I need to spend more on this tv then so be it.
I have seen the TCLs and they seem like a good value, but will they stand the test of time that the other reputable brands have?

Outside of OLED sets most of the rest are similar technologies. I would find the features you want and go from there. I think looking at the TCL or Vizio would be a good position.

My last TV was a top of the line 55" Samsung. It lasted about 7 years and paid north of $2,000 for it. I spent less than $700 for the 65" Hisense. So if it craps out in 3 years and I have to spend another $700 in 3 years, I'll still come out ahead cost wise, plus will have newer technology in 3 years.
I will admit that TV has a lot of hours on it. I think it average over 12 hours per day of on time. It will be moved to the back patio until it totally craps out.

My experience with Samsung has been they don't last long, had two different sets neither lasted past 7 years.
Everyone else seems to be ok with them. But my Sony TV from 2007 and Panasonic from 2008 still working

Im in pretty much the same boat as you OP, both in terms of budget and size. I'm currently leaning Samsung QLED, because i watch a ton of sports and want to avoid the potential for burn in you get with OLED. Also want a 120hz processor to avoid blur. The 75" Q70 can be had for about $1,800-$2,000.

Can anyone answer if the SAmsung Q80T is the same as the Q8DT model at Costco?
I can't find reviews on the Costco model, only on the Q80T

In the bit of research I did on that, I do believe they are the same. Would want to do a side by side specs comparison before pulling the trigger though.
