Moved into this house this year. The existing outdoor speakers are Bose. No idea how old, but look to be the series with the really small woofers. They look like the 151s which have 2 1/2" ones.

It's not that I hate these, it's just that I suspect I could do better out there with a change.

Best Buy has some larger Klipsch for under $250. I guess my question is, would I even know a difference? Waste of time and money?

Do it only if you have too imho. No need in replacing them if they still work. I would check to make sure the wiring is ok before replacing them. Would be a lot cheaper...

Well, I was out running errands and decided to buy them. Holy cow what a difference. I sat on the porch for at least an hour just running through songs I thought would reflect the difference. So happy with these.

What kind of receiver do you have running your outdoor speakers?

I was looking into getting the Sonos Amp but saw the price tag and realized I'm not an audiophile.

Thinking of just getting the Sonos Move for outdoor sound.

Same. I have 2 outside speakers powered by an amp in my living room. I just bought a Phorus Play Fi Gateway (Play Fi is basically a shittier version of Sonos) that I plugged into the amp, so I can control the outside speakers from my phone. It was only $30, and it works pretty well. Play Fi gets a bad rap, but it works.

I also just bought 2 Polk Omni S6 play fi speakers for $50 each, that I added to the ecosystem.

Polk Omni S6 If you have an outlet outside, and you want to try something different than Sonos, give this a try.

Thanks for the heads up on play fi as I hadn't heard of it.

I already have one Sonos speaker though so will stick with that.

Surprised Play Fi isn’t more popular

This time last week, I had never heard of it. Took a chance on it because the price was so good. I'm not disappointed. I got 2 speakers and a gateway for $150. Sonos version would easily cost $750. All the reviews claim that the Polk speakers sound better than the Sonos, and it's just the Play Fi app that holds them back.

I really don't mind the Play Fi app. It's similar to Sonos.

It doesn’t have the SONOS magic technology though

Does play fi work with Alexa, Airplay 2, and Google Assistant?

Supposedly it works with Alexa, but I haven't figured it out yet.

The gateway supports Airplay, but the speakers don't.

Not sure about Google Assistant.

These are excellent outdoor speakers. They even have a plug you can put in them so you can spray them with water.

Just a basic Pioneer. I use a switch box thing to switch to and from the various speakers all around the house. I use a Chromecast audio to play various sources. Very happy with the set up.

I decided no to use the plugs. I hope I don't end up regretting it.
