That is my post but let's not take things out of context. The hub 2 is a week old and while it still pisses me off firmware isssies are a problem when you are an early adopter. The hub 1 was rock solid from what I hear.

You hear wrong. This thread is too long to read from start to finish but trust me its full of complaints. That's why i tried to tell you originally to pick up SmartThings. You can only lead a horse to water though.

so you found a SINGLE bug to justify the shitty ST hub and its millions of issues.

anyone can just go to the /st reddit and see for themselves.

i linked a single issue as an example.

simply not true.

last time you did that you linked to smart app issues. which i tried to explain to you was open source stuff but i guess you still dont grasp the difference. Wink i'm pretty sure doesnt even have open source apps.

I wont take this any further because you can't convince people set in their ways but to the guy who asked about smartthings because his wink was sucking...yes you should switch. you won't be disappointed.

you're not even trying to hide the elephant in the room; the lack of local control with ST.

this is a huge deal for mass-market smart hubs and you're waving it off as if your cloud-based 2 year old hub with aging specs is somehow superior.

software glitches can always be fixed but you can't magically add more processing power or memory to a physical device.

i just dont think normal people give a shite that their smart switches turned into normal switches when their wifi stopped working. they are more focused on figuring out why their wifi isnt working.

I dont need more processing power. i press a button and it does what its supposed to, instantly, every single time. My routines run right on time, every single time.

what?

you mean 'normal people don't care their house automation continues to work uninterrupted even if the internet is down' and 'normal people aren't intersted in instant response to light switches and sensors'?

yes thats precisely what i mean. if you internet is down nobody cares that their good night routine doesnt work.

How often is your wifi down? I'd say mine doesnt even average once a month. You are seriously grasping at straws. I'll take the platform that is much more reliable over one that still works when your internet goes out.

smartthings responses are instant. i literally just addressed that in the previous post.

Only issue I've had with my hub was from what appeared to be the result of a power surge. Folks at smart things didn't question and sent me another one.

Has worked fine for me.

makes your outlet smart without buying and rewiring it. Type Slickdeals, ihome, smart plug and you'll see the deal thread.

Mctiger, saw this on Reddit about the tapt switches

quote:

EDIT: I was able to solve my issue. I moved the Hub 2 to the original location of the Hub 1. I'm now connected via WiFi, which isn't preferred but it will work until I have time to run new network cable to that spot. It took awhile to figure out but to delete the 2 tapt switches, but to do this you need to go back to the main screen of the app (with the hub, add a product and whatever else you have listed) tap on "switches" tap on the settings gear icon, tap on the switch that I want to delete, scroll to the bottom and tap "Remove this Tapt"

I removed the two tapts and re-discovered them

Is there anyway to buy just a remote and faceplate? Apparently the box was thrown away...

the concept seems simple enough.

might just sell the rest of my outlinks on ebay since its a PITA to rewire an entire outlet over a plug-in module that can be moved around.
