Just a word from the wise, the touchscreen locks aren't worth a frick in the weather down here in New Orleans. The schlage's faux cheap arse looking touchscreen is better than the others but still wouldn't recommend one down here.

I've been looking at getting a Schlage; which one do you recommend for being down here?

I've had the schlage camelot lock for 6 months now. I live in Baton Rouge.
Not a single problem yet. Battery is at 96% too.

Tigerwise is never wrong.
Btw I live on a hill and the back of my house stays damp almost all year long because it gets little sunshine and water is always seeping down the hill underground.
I wish the paint on my screened in room held up as well as the back door schlage lock.
Never had the slightest issue with the locks and I have a bunch of them.
its a fantastic product. one of my favorite automated devices.
Tigerwise just has a bee in his bonnet over schlage for some reason.
eta added 3rd schlage screenshot above.
i would LOVE to see any smart lock as full-featured as this one and as easy to manage via UI.
hint: there is none.

Did you miss the part where I said the Schlage faux touchscreen stood up to the humidity better than the others ? I sell this shite for a living, I'm just giving the board my feedback from my experiences.

My door get almost direct rain during storms. No issue during the flood (i did not flood). Rain can directly hit the outside face of the lock. No issues. Like i said only time there was an issue was when it condensated on the inside panel of the lock.

Understood, just also giving my personal experience. During the BR flood my house didnt flood but we got so much rain that my front door swelled and wouldnt close properly anymore. You had to really slam it when before it closed with ease.
However, the lock never had a hitch.

Can anyone recommend dimmable bulbs for recess lighting? I'm leaning towards going with a Lutron Caserta of Luton Maestro switch depending on how the fan ties in. As such I don't have to have smart bulbs unless there are some basic ones that are affordable.

I saw you answered this a few months ago but wanted to make sure nothing had changed.

Bump for the last two questions. Also as a bonus I just left Home Depot and they have cree 40 watt and 60 watts on sale for 3.90 and 4.90. Not smart bulbs.

Yes, the iris version is just zwave but packaged for Lowes. I have one, and it works.

because cree just came out with a whole new line of bulbs that are more better than those. those are probably fine, but just keep in mind the newer ones are better light, can handle 3-way lights (in some cases) and all but eliminate 'dimmer buzz'.
eta before i forget, here's the 'matching' schlage doornknob i opted for with my lock.

what size? 6"? those cree 'all in one' replacements are bad-arse, i replaced dozens in my house with them and they look very professional. you wouldn't believe the mismatch of CFLs, regular bulbs and odd BR30 bulbs in the various cans when I bought the house. it was awful.

pros of going with a smart switch
- you can buy one smart dimmer and control all these lights with it that are on the same switch
- you don't have to add each light separately to your smart hub
- you don't run the risk of some bulbs getting out-of-whack and being at the wrong brightness level or not on at all.
- i think the 'smart recessed lights' are made by commercial electric and i know ZERO about this product and how well it integrates with smart hubs.
cons
- smart recessed lights are not much more expensive than these 'non smart' bulbs
- you can control them individually if you have multiple lights controlled by a single switch

Cad,
Is there a benefit to using the all in one replacement vs a comparable dumb dimmable Cree bulb?

i dont think cree sells a br30 type bulb, but I like how fresh, new and professional a sealed replacment can looks over any type of screw-in bulb that won't be flush

Thanks. Do the all the in one's replace the existing can or fit inside?
