If you were nice to him he might be willing to make a deal with you on one. I can't believe the crazy deals mc runs across every day.

The crazy thing is their inventory showed 0, but i found one on the clearance aisle, and two tucked away on the top shelves. Also, picked up a bronze one a few weeks back at $150 to wait on the price drop.

Anyone done any automation of their pool equipment and features? I am get a pool remodeled and adding some water features and a fire pit and looking to automate it all. Any recommendations on pool automation equipment or brands?

Depends. If you already have an all-in-one system you ain't gain much by trying to insert smart doodads in there over getting their remote control.
If your pump and lights, etc. are just dumb switches then yes there are options.
Need to know a little more about your setup first.

I've had my schlage lock for over a month and the battery still reads 100%. That's great if it's a true reading but from what i've read i should have expected to lose some charge by now.
How long was it before yall's locks battery went under 100%?

You have it connected to a HA hub? When my lock was just on it's own, the batteries lasted well over a year. Once I connected it to Wink, I seem to only get a few months out of them. I have had to change them twice already since then. Last change was about a month ago, and it's showing 97%. The lock always dies when the charge hits around 80%.

Well I just bought the house a month ago and it has an 18 year old pool, so and I am doing a complete remodel and all new equipment. The remodel includes adding a tanning ledge, and a bench with led water spouts, and wall across the back of the pool with a sheer descent water feature with a fire pit and sitting area behind it.
I want to be able to control turning on the different lights, water features, and fire pit remotely, and also want to be able to control the pool and spa and schedule when pumps and things run.

This all sounds like stuff that can be controlled via normal zwave switches & dimmers. The one thing you should insist on is that the electrican run a neutral/common in the romex wiring sheath which I assume they would do considering its 2016. The neutral (white) is required to supply power any zwave/smart switch you might consider to make these things 'smart'. I can help you decide what you need based on what you want to achieve so don't sweat that now unless you want to have these things on hand for the electrican to install at the same time.

all vanilla, straightforward zwave.

this is different. while i installed a simple intermatic zwave outdoor switch for my simple single-stage 'dumb' pump, that may not be what you need.
if you're installing a new pump, more than likely you are getting a fancy multistage pump that already has all the intelligence to cycle the pump speed and do other things already which makes having a smart 'switch' kind of a moot point. what type of pump are you planning to install or are you going with the one already there?
again, a dumb pump that you have to walk over to and turn on and off is as textbook case of something that will pay for itself in a couple months if you install a smart switch and create a schedule yourself.
a multistage pump (while it costs $4k or so) handles all this already so all you'd be doing is adding the ability to remotely 'flip' the switch off which may not provide much in the way of functionality to you.

I don't trust mine, but you can easily tell when the batteries are about done. The motor will be real sluggish, and it will beep at you. Others have reported better battery experiences.
Maybe I'll put one of the new ones on my main door and move this one to a less used door.

Oops big mouth meant to weigh in on this as well.
The nice lady at schlage told me wink implemented the whole battery thing wrong.
They are using voltage or something to determine how much battery life is left and she went on a brief rant about how they had carefully relayed this to the wink engineers.... who proceeded to do it the wrong way anyway.

TL;Dr wink is at fault and can fix it but who knows if they will
