Gotcha. I don't think mine does and the TV isn't 2 years old. Maybe I need to test that.

As long as the chromecast is on, it should automatically change the input to the correct one. It has been doing this since day 1 that the original chromecast was released.
In addition, if you keep the Chromecast plugged into a powered USB slot (aka, not one on your TV that is only on when the TV is on), or plugged into the wall, it will turn on your TV first too.
i.e., I'm at home my TV is off. I pull up my phone, WatchESPN app, click the Cast button. The chromecast powers on my tv, changes the input to the correct one, and then is casting WatchESPN.
How in the world have you used a chromecast before?

Well every one of my tv's has a roku. So really the chromecast is the secondary device on the 2 tv's that have it. But that may change with the google home.

I ordered 128 XL, very silver.
Wanted blue, but no option for 128 at this time. Only blue that was available was for Pixel only.

best camera ever on a mobile device - better than apple
free unlimited ORIGINAL RESOLUTION photos and 4K video
but apple has a blacker-than-black iphone.

I'm ready to make my newly-purchased home "Smart"
- Just ordered the Google Home.
- Lifx SmartBulbs are on sale today for $40 on BestBuy, amazon and Lifx website (Usually $60. No light hub needed like the Philips Hue bulbs). Just ordered a couple of the Color 1000 Multicolor A19 bulbs.
- I'm going with Ecobee3 for the Thermostat (Will purchase soon)
- I'm still debating if I should go with SmartThings Hub or the Wink hub.
Thoughts? Advice?

Said within 4 weeks of the phone shipment date...and while supplies last, which is comforting.
