Here is a render someone on g+ did improving the forehead/chin areas and adding the pixel light bar. Looks great. Should have been the final product IMO.

You made some good points, and then...

Uneducated, tech illiterate people keep bitching and for that I say keep buying Samsung's garbage. It's a match made in heaven.

See, this is the crap you spew that makes you sound like an Apple fanboy. Samsung has sold hundreds of millions of Galaxy phones since they began making them. They've sold far more than any other Android phone manufacturer. But, all of the people buying them are uneducated and tech illiterate? I thought those people bought iPhones?

I'm done with this conversation. Enjoy your phone. I'll probably end up getting one at some point also, despite the flaws I see in Google's progress.

whatever. Like i said, its just opinions at the end of the day. You can agree to disagree. Its cool. People will gravitate to what they think is the best option for their personal tastes, no matter how informed or ill-informed they are about the market. It all goes full circle.

Anyone else find it strange that Google essentially just rebranded everything they are doing and are acting like it is life-changing? I felt like I was watching an Apple event.

Nexus -> Pixel
Google Now -> Google Assistant
VR -> Daydream
Onhub -> Google Wifi
Google Cast -> Google Home (this one will be changing in the upcoming update to the app)

And now they are going to have some features of "stock Android" that are really "Pixel Android" only features? So, instead of trying to bridge the gap of fragmentation, they are purposefully going to make it worse? I'm so confused by the direction they are going.

As someone who has only ever had Android phones, and owned Nexus phones), I'm extremely disappointed in the direction Google is heading.

As a noted Apple fanboy, this actually makes total sense for google.

They are rebranding everything into one easily identifiable ecosystem, which is HUGE for the general population.

As many have pointed out, a huge majority of the population doesn't care about the specs of a phone or the customization abilities of a rooted OS. They want products that work out of the box to make their lives easier and the ability to use their phones to connect with the world in easy ways (social media, messaging apps, cameras, etc.). This new branding makes it much easier for the general population to identify and follow the google line of products. They are essentially resetting everything to point zero from a marketing standpoint and I personally think they will see increased sales because of it.

I like what Google is doing. It isn't for the tech nerds, but for the general population. This is the right move IMO.

Well said, it is the correct answer, and I'm a tech nerd who loved the Nexus line. Its a new day.

I'm specifically interested in purchasing a glass screen protector and case for my Pixel XL.

Have any of you seen any new releases (aside from Google Store) in terms of these products that will fit our phone(s)?

I have a Rhinoshield case for my Apple iPhone 6 Plus and really like it. I'm also using a Steelie Niteize magnet that is adhered to the back of my phone and I set it on a desktop (magnet) stand when at home and in my vehicle.

Suggestions?

Spigen slim armor. Have it on my 6p. Slim, grippy, amazing laser precision design. Gives that dark, murdered out look. Best fit on the 6p of cases i have tried.

What do you guys think of the Google Live cases? I think they are cool, but if they are not protective enough, then its not worth it.

Exclusive to Verizon.

However, you can order it directly from Google Store.

I don't even know what that means. You pay full price for the phone one way or the other. You just either get it financed through Verizon if you go with them or through Synchrony Bank if you go through Google store.

Google Cast is the app that was previously known as Chromecast, and coming soon will be rebranded once again to Google Home.

But google Home is a new product. I get you are saying they changed the name of google cast but google home is something brand new. It's not just a rebrand.

So when you said this:

Then listed Google home as an example that was simply a bad example.
