Non-iOS smart watch paired with iPhone, and good options?

I think I want a smart watch but am worried about durability. I use apple products so obviously Apple Watch would be best but I’m afraid I will break it (I currently wear g-shocks). I like the look of the Samsung gear and the Fossil Q Explorist but am worried about their compatibility with iOS.

I want to be able to control Spotify and also read texts. Responding would be nice but may not be an option with non-iOS watch’s.

Are there any other options for me or is it Apple Watch or bust?

Just get one of the older cheaper versions of you afraid of breaking it. They are pretty rugged tech though, they do take a beating pretty well.

Problem is the older versions aren’t as resistant to water which would be an issue for me.

I have some friends with the Garmin smart watch. Big round face (the watch, not the friends). All seem very happy with it. Has phone integration but more used for tracking workouts.

I use the Samsung S3 Frontier with my iPhone. It does almost everything except you can’t use Samsung pay (I miss that a lot) and you can’t reply to text messages with your watch.
Other than those 2 things, it works flawlessly.

I just purchased the s3 on Amazon. Already have the proper expectations about pairing with my iPhone. Hopefully the s3 OS (Tizen) will have an update one day and everything will work... fingers crossed

I just bought a Fenix 3 and actually received it yesterday. I own a small concrete construction company and will put it through the paces and let you guys know how durable it is. It is certainly bigger than I anticipated though I knew it would be big. The screen isn't very bright but the options seem pretty nice.

It grabs all notifications and allows you to clear them and view them including non-text or call notifications (i am getting some from youtube, line and groupme).

It has its own completely different OS and has its own store to get apps. So far they aren't anything to write home about but I haven't tinkered with them all yet either.

i had a Fenix 3 but now use an Apple Watch.

I'd probably just get an Apple Watch, Apple Care and one of those little bumpers.

I had an Apple Watch and gave it to my stepdaughter. I didn't care for the apps and the series 1 didn't seem to be in sync with my phone very well.
