No Cell Service in Geismar/St. Gabriel Area, Around Plants

Everyone has noticed this. In nearly every chemical plant, you can't get cell service (mostly internet). This includes in the parking lots and outside the gates. Are the plants blocking the signal with a jammer? Is it even legal for them to do this?

Towers are overloaded in those areas and the existing towers have constant issues from what I understand. I've also heard that AT&T may be putting up a new tower somewhere near 30/3115 in 2025.
Inside the buildings, which may be blast proof, service will be nonexistent unless they have signal boosters.

Thanks, that's what I was wondering about. It seems like if they were overloaded, they (cell companies) would have some temporary tower or boosters that would help until they get the problem fixed. This shouldn't be happening for such a long period. This problem has been going on for many years. People could say its a safety issue if they need to make an emergency call, and can't call out.

During the day it’s impossible to use your phone.
On nights it’s fine. It’s a people thing.

Think I remember t-mobile working better in those cases. Verizon was terrible.

Plus, pretty sure Jammers are illegal.

Just that there are a lot of plants with a lot of property and a lot of people and not enough close by towers to keep up with it all.

I noticed this when I returned to this area for work this summer and feel like this is a new phenomenon. Maybe not, but I never had this issue a few years ago when I worked literally next door to where I’m working now
Can’t send a text message, can’t get email, nothing. No data service at all without WiFi.
But I guess what others are saying about capacity is likely true - I have noticed that later in my workday, data service becomes available and I can use 5G. I guess after all the early-birds and contractors head home for the day.
It’s super frustrating whatever it is.
It's been a problem for years at some plants. But now, the whole area seems to not get service. I even reported it to the phone company and the FCC because I was suspecting that the plants were illegally using jammers.
This actually happened in some plants around S. Louisiana in the past, and I think that they got fined. Many plants seem to think that they are above the law.

If its raining and crews aren't working, every swingin' d**K in those plants is playing on their phones...

Unfortunately, this is a fact.

Today, people use their phone to help them do their job with, also. They have reference material on their phone, such as the pipefitter's blue book, or they can look up an SDS of a specific chemical if they choose. It also provides a way to communicate with supervision. Often, (but not always) when they are on their phone, its work related.
