I've got three houses that are next to each other. Maybe 100 yards from the first to the third. I would like to be able to have them all use the same internet service if possible, but I'm not sure where to start looking. Would I be better off trying to bury cable and hardwire everything, or should I look into some long range wireless equipment from ubiquiti?

the long range wifi antennas have a problem. While they can broadcast long range, your device isnt powerful enough to send packets back. So most the Long range model isnt being produced as much anymore.

I have never done this or read about this but i would either get the service at the middle house and set up access points on both sides of the house to reach the houses on each side or run a hardwire to the to houses with access points.

Here's how they're doing something similar in NYC with mesh systems.

Wired is always preferred. Run underground in conduit from the demarc to both houses and connect to a wireless router in AP mode. Most good routers will have a 1 button selection in the GUI to switch to AP mode, just check the documentation.

If running a cable in underground conduit isn't feasible, then using some Ubiquiti wireless equipment is your best bet.
Get service in the middle house and extend to the outer two. For distances so short, you could get away with the outdoor mesh APs. Get the Mesh AP Pros and install a unit on all 3 houses. LINK

Read the subject as "Networking tree houses".

Would've made for a much more fun thread. Oh well.

We currently share internet with my brother in law using point to point equipment. We have a modem at the bottom of our hill, hooked a dish to it, and shot it up the hill about 800 ft to my house through a fairly thick wooded area. From my place, we shot it another 400 ft to my brother in law's. My FIL is building close by and we'll send the signal to his place as well. We've had this setup for about 6 months and it's worked great. We do lose a little speed because of tree cover but it's not something we really notice. We went this route because Spectrum quoted 30k to run wire up to the houses. For equipment and labor we paid $1500 for the setup.

Here's a link for the main antennas we used from the modem to my place, then my place to my BIL's....might not be exactly what we used but close. LINK

Could you re-purpose an old dish network dish to send the signal by chance? I haven't looked into this much but it seems like these are what they use. I imagine they work in some proprietary crap in with the dish to make it not work unless tied to their network.

Grab some Ubiquiti Nanobeam AC's and do some wireless bridges. They're less than $100 each.

Keep in mind that runs need to be 100 meters or less if you’re connecting the three houses. Use the middle house as the hub to keep cable distances to a minimum.

I've actually done what you're attempting to do. The trick is to stick the AP and repeaters next to windows that have views to each other. I have perfect signal on one and another one I've never been able to get consistent speeds, but it's good enough for web browsing.
