It pays for itself fairly quickly, but you are definitely paying more than you should for a thermostat. That’s the cost of early adopted technology.

What’s really the benefits besides being able to control temps while not at home? My current unit I can set to 77 when not home then whatever I want while I am home.

I bought one about a month ago and I love it. It just learns what your habits are. Every night it turns itself to 67 and every morning when I wake up, its not freezing cold. Also, being able to control it remotely is great too.
